Can't forget about those Monty Meza-Clay rumors either, that would have been equally as bad. I think Sykes would have been worse than Barker. I'm pissed that Peterson was positive for PED's, but happy that it trashed that horrible fight.Comment

eingMargarito was a very legit fight. And just because you lose doesnt mean you eliminate him from your list of very respectable foes. I can agree on a Geale fight soon to some extent. But for starters, Barker faired better than Dzinziruk (who was ranked behind ONLY Sergio at the time at '54) and made Sergio look sluggish at times even though he eventually cut him down, and you all say he wasnt worthy. I can agree Barker wasnt next in line at the time but he definitely made it sloppy for Maravilla, Macklin as well. None of them have fought anyone near the threat level of a Williams, Pavlik, or JCC Jr (only list him as a threat because of his size on fight night). Floyd called out Oscar for like 5 yrs and had to wait.. why the hell shouldn't anyone else have to wait. These guys all remind me of what I call Fernando Vargas syndrome, cuz he was doin all the yellin and looked ready until he was thrown in with Oscar. Sergio has been at the top scene for quite some time now.. these guys have just arrived and havent even proved they can hang around for a while. Look at what appened to Angulo. When you make the B+ and A- fighters fight you find out alot about them. Pirog should fight Gennady, Geale can fight Chavez in May for huge $$$. One can fight Sergio in September.Sergio-Margarito wasn't a big fight when it happened and he lost anyway.
Sergio gets his due for Cintron, Williams, and Pavlik. Chavez and Macklin were also solid/decent wins. Dzinziruk....fine I'll give you that. He was at least Top 10 at 154.
But Darren Barker and Martin Murray, are you serious??? Figting Rees is better than fighting Barker, he's at least Top 10 at 135. And it's about equal to Martin Murray.
And the whole "What have those guys done" excuse goes straight out the window when you bring up Sergio's last 5 opponents. Dzinziruk had never done anything at 160, Barker as a 160 fighter had never done anything, Macklin had one good "win" (should have been a win) over Sturm, Chavez had one legit win over Zbik and an alright win over Lee, and Murray has only ever fought Sturm too. So yeah, those 3 have done enough to earn a Sergio fight, the standards aren't exactly that high. Golovkin beat Proksa, who was Top 10. Pirog at least had an alright win over Jacobs at the time, and has been calling Sergio out for like 2 years now. And Geale beat Sturm officially and took his title.
I wanted Sergio-Geale for Sergio's next fight.Comment

Darren Barker was an AWFUL fight when he took that one, I don't care what happened in the fight. Barker had done d**k.....he'd done less than Pirog, Golovkin, and Gelae. Sergio should have fought Pirog in Fall 2011, I had no beef with Macklin or Chavez, those were legit wins. But I mean it's not some hard as hell stretch to the point he deserves an easier fight like Murray, they were just what they were, solid/decent wins. And Sergio should have been gunning for Geale in the Spring, coming off a good win over Sturm and Geale is on of the top 2-3 MW's in the world. I can't condone fighting Martin Murray, not fighting Golovkin/Pirog/Geale, than to claim guys that bring in big money that are smaller than you are supposedly ducking you.eing

I would imagine Sergio probably feels he wont make anything out of those fights and IMO he has more than enough of a right to look for his payday fights after all the work he has put in. I like Geale for his next fight, i really do, because atleast he knocked off a guy who had been on the top scene for a while in Sturm. But do you really believe he has a shot to beat Sergio. I mean, you keep screaming Barker and Murray but conveniently dont choose to speak about Pavlik and what he did to his face, or Williams and how he made him go to sleep, or Dzinziruk getting dropped 5 times, or Chavez, Cotto and Canelo being kept from him. Sergio is not an up and comer with things to prove. He is an ACCOMPLISHED LINEAL CHAMPION and is coming off of a nasty 12th round leg injury and is probably looking to check his footing is all IMO.Darren Barker was an AWFUL fight when he took that one, I don't care what happened in the fight. They just don't like the guy, period. They are going to go out of their way to complain about every little thing they can, because it makes them feel good to do that.Comment

Yeah, Pavlik and Williams were good wins. Those happened 5 fights ago. Sergio has like 5 good wins, 6 if you count what should have been one over Cintron. That doesn't mean he should be calling out smaller fighters and not fight his own biggest threats. And yes, Gennady Golovkin is his biggest threat in his weight class. I think Sergio would mop the floor with Pirog, but we won't know unless he fights him. He should have fought him Fall 2011, when people wanted it. He should fight Geale now, when people would want that fight. He'd be unifying titles at Middleweight, something important for his legacy in my opinion.
If Sergio finished out his career with Geale, Pirog, Golovkin, and Quillin, that'd be a DAMN GOOD finish for his legacy. He'd unify Middleweight, get some good wins on the way out, still make pretty good money, and certify his legacy as the best Middleweight since Hopkins and the best of his era.Comment

I just ain't upset at him for looking for a payday.. I mean if I were Sergio I'd be hunting Pacquiao (which he has said is not a fight he wants anymore recently), Cotto (not anymore either) and Floyd also. That would guarantee him I would imagine, atleast 4 maybe 5 million bucks on PPV. You'd be nuts not to try and get that $$$. If he fights the other guys he MIGHT get a cool million. He deserves to be on PPV is all IMO. The guys we were talking about are all Boxing After Dark kind of guys. I would love to have him fight Gennady on PPV for intents and purposes... But you know that aint happening anytime soon... So long as there are Bob Arums and JCC Jrs out there.Comment
I missed it.
