I agree, Quillin deserves the opportunity to build his hometown base with a few showcase fights in NY. At the end of the day boxing is a business and GB can look at a Quillen/Jacobs mega fight in 2014 if Quillin still has gas in the tank and his belt.Comment

Wow Rubio? really? What a dangerous opponent!!
First Ndam, then Guerrero and after that Rubio? Quillin is really testing himself by fighting the top contenders of the division. A real champion.
He should face GGG and the winner should face Sergio. These paper champs "defending" their paper belts...Comment

To be fair, it's not really his fault. N'damn would only fight Quillin with a rematch clause. And Rubio being his mandatory isn't his fault, unless Al Haymon pulled some strings which seems likely. But as far as mandatories goes, it's not a terrible one. Fernando as his next opponent sucks though. I'd like to see him face some more top 10 guys.Comment

According to the camp of Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio (56-6-1, 49KOs), he will receive the WBO's number one ranking, at middleweight, when the organization's new ratings are released. The move to place Rubio at number one has caused a minor stir because the boxer has staged his last two fights above the middleweight limit.
At the moment the WBO champion is undefeated Peter Quillin (28-0, 20KOs).Comment

I don't have a problem with Quillin fighting Rubio or a N'Dam rematch(which will be a good scrap most likely) so much as it bothers me he's giving Fernando Guerrero a shot. The division's too deep for him to be wasting his time with C-level fighters like that.To be fair, it's not really his fault. N'damn would only fight Quillin with a rematch clause. And Rubio being his mandatory isn't his fault, unless Al Haymon pulled some strings which seems likely. But as far as mandatories goes, it's not a terrible one. Right, the mandatory will be forced on him as will N'Dam because of the rematch clause. So I have no issue with him fighting Guerrero, he should at least get to pick one easier fight of his choice after becoming champion.
(and Guerrero might not be that easy.)Comment

Fernando Guerrero is several steps down from N'Dam who was and is a legitimate top 10 middleweight with quality wins over Burzak, Khurtsidze, and Giovanni Lorenzo (all top 20 middleweights). As much as I'd like to see the the titleholders fight each other, Quillin v. Rubio is a good fight. Rubio has really good punching power coupled with hard chin, he will likely test Quillin.Comment
