Closet Canelo fan here (GBP have made it nearly impossible to admit to being a fan with their woeful matchmaking) - Canelo vs Trout would be a heck of a fight. And I'm not sure what people are *****ing about - he just said he doesn't want to fight Cotto but wants to fight Trout.

Doesn't matter how much money the opponent generates because the fight is still a damn undercard. The fact is ginger & his choice of over-matched opponent has yet to make it to a headlining ppv.

Personally, I don't care which 154lber he fights. I'd even be satisfied if it was Angulo. I know he has no business in the ring with Trout. He'd get boxed silly. I can also guarantee that if he did fight Angulo, he'd get knocked out. I've watched all his fights. Josesito put leather on him, Gomez, Cintron & grandpa Mosley. None were as strong, big or as powerful as Angulo. The minute ginger gets hit flush from Kirkland or Angulo type of power, he gets slept.

If Canelo really wants to make a statement then the only logical choice right now would be a fight with Trout but unfortunately for him, I don't think he can beat Trout because he hasn't faced anyone of his caliber and I doubt GBP is ready to cash out by risking putting Canelo in with someone like Trout just yet, it's different with Floyd because he is the cash cow and losing to him wouldn't damage Canelo's career too much.

When speaking of caliber, Trout beat Cotto and therefore will automatically beat Canelo? This is just not true. Fact is, styles make fights and Canelo has the weapons to contain Trout.

IMO...Canelo will break Trout down with heavy body blows and 3-4 punch combos. In the later rounds, Trout will focus on his body giving Canelo an opening and eventually KO Trout. The only chance Trout has is to box him and stay outside, that will be tough to do with a heavy framed Canelo. I just don't see it happening. Lastly, Trout possess no real power, so Canelo will gladly take 3 to deliver 1. Late round TKO by Canelo.

If you actually watched the fights instead of looking at Boxrec, you'd know Delvin beat Theopane and Hlatshwayo and got some sore ass decisions. Delvin is an excellent 154 fighter and better than any of the 154 fighters Canelos faced. Im a fan of Ginger but that's a fact.

Canelo has yet to fight a live body who is natural JMW (maybe Ryan Rhodes was the only one) or even a natural WW, so I'd like to see him try.

Oscar wanted Cotto-Canelo because it was a no-lose situation... If Cotto beat Canelo, the defeat would come from a legend... and depending on how competetive it was, a possible series of fights... its easy to explain away losing to a legend... also nobody alive believes Cotto is a true junior middleweight... hes vastly undersized... and they believed in a fire fight Canelo would have a good chance... However its unlikely this version of Cotto would have participated in a I hit you, you hit me affair... he probably would have tried to outbox him, pick his spots and use his better defense to get the win (entirely plausible)... for Oscar matching lil' Ginger with Trout is bad match making... you cant explain away losing to another young fighter in the division... that just ruins the illusion they have created with canelos unimpressive undefeated record... I think canelo loses to Trout, and Cotto... i just think there is the possiblity for tremendous upside either way the Cotto fight goes
