The point is that there was never a time Ward fought someone else instead of Bute, so how did he duck him?

If Bute looked good and beat Froch, Ward would have fought him this year. Guaranteed. Maybe even instead of Dawson.

I agree. Beside that, while Froch wanted Kessler next I believe Kessler wanted Ward before that but according to Kessler the fight venue was the stumbling block in negotiations.
