Is Deontay Wilder More Overrated than Canelo Alvarez?

wilder (25-0 25 KOs) knocked out kelvin price (13-1 6 KOs) with a wicked right hand in his last outing and many people are starting to believe that he's the next big thing. at 6 foot 7 inches tall and all his wins coming by way of knock, it certainly looks that way.

but in my eyes, his still untested and all this buzz around wilder is nothing but hype. he keeps fighting these mediocre opponents and it's hard to see through the hype. he already has an impressive record and at 26 years of age, i'm surprised he hasn't yet fought in the championship level.

there are other legit competition out there like david haye (26-2 24 KOs), david price (15-0 13 KOs) or even tyson fury (20-0 14 KOs), but wilder just keeps fighting cab drivers, just like what GBP is doing to canelo alvarez. it's not doing him any good, and at this stage of his career, the only logical fights for wilder are either one of the those three guys i mentioned.

if wilder true wants to make a statement and earn big money in the process, he should stop with this bottom feeding crap and face a someone who can actually compete with him. till then, he's just wasting precious time.

No, Canelo is still the most overrated fighter.

No. Both Canelo and Wilder are cherry picking opponents but at least Deontay doesn't claim to be a world champion while doing so.

If anything Wilder is trying to be like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by fighting a bunch of lesser foes in order to make up for his lack of an amateur background.

              His power is for real.

I think his next fight will be against Tyson Fury.

              Let's hope so.

As for more overrated than Canelo? Hell no.

Canelo is still fighting washed up fighters and lightweights.

This was a good win for Wilder against an undefeated opponent who was as big as he was.

When was the last time you could say that for Canelo?

it's kinda funny when you know which posters are going to vote for what option even before they give their opinion. Everyone in my ignore list is voting No.

everyone agrees that Canelo can fight and compete with the best of his division. The Trouts, Mayweather's, Lara's etc
Despite having a belt. Most people don't think he will conquer his weight class.

Wilder is going life & death and getting dropped by 400lbs Mcdonald's Masters. While people say he's the savior of boxing and the HW Division. He's supposed to knock out the Klitschkos

i do hope wilder steps up and faces a legit opponent next. he's putting his life on the line everytime he goes in that ring but he doesn't get paid well enough. i think he does have the talent but we'll never know for sure until he steps up
