Then why isn't the disease being treated and surely the testing agency would have been told if Poon was ill.
And if he is ill, then why did this fight not get cancelled weeks ago?

I'm nothing more than a layman, but several blooddisorders can stem from previous use of PED's.
And no, thalassemia has absolutely nothing to do with PEDs, it's just a genetic disease, his parents most likely were carriers and he was unlucky to get the disease.Comment

Some of the replies in this thread are a doozy. The man has a disorder that prevented him from passing a physical, yet there are people bashing him for cheating. NSB's finest at work.Comment

The headline is very misleading, he didn't test positive for PEDS, he has a medical condition that makes it unsafe for him to fight.
Here's what it says on pubmed:
Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia.
is that the end of his career then?Comment
