so the doctors made the right call....can't go into a fight if the fighter is suffering from thalassemia (assuming thats the real cause)..
sucks tho cause like many i was really looking forward to this fight..i think more so than donaire vs arce.

I'm nothing more than a layman, but several blooddisorders can stem from previous use of PED's.
And no, thalassemia has absolutely nothing to do with PEDs, it's just a genetic disease, his parents most likely were carriers and he was unlucky to get the disease.

Some of the replies in this thread are a doozy. The man has a disorder that prevented him from passing a physical, yet there are people bashing him for cheating. NSB's finest at work.

The headline is very misleading, he didn't test positive for PEDS, he has a medical condition that makes it unsafe for him to fight.
Here's what it says on pubmed:
Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia.
is that the end of his career then?
