Mayweather went life and death with Cotto...which says alot
I used to think Mayweather would beat Canelo fairly easily but not anymore.
Canelo knocks him out cold
I don't think he knocks him cold, but I do think Canelo would beat him at this stage. I'm quite positive that we will never see that fight materialise though.
Now that Pac has been decimated by great Juan, there is really very few big fights left for Mayweather. The couple that era available are risky fights that I just don't think he will go for at this stage. Too close to the end, too much of a risk with that 0.
This, especially in another year, will be the next Oscar/Mayweather, Pac/Mayweather though. If he gets out of this one too, then the second half of his career will have really stunk. Great, epic first half to his career, but if he misses both Pac (which has just been sealed) and Canelo, who will become the next superstar over the following year or two, then he will have just shot himself in the foot.
There will be no one left at 147 though. If Khan hadn't been knocked out, then he would have been the biggest frontrunner by far, but he fought like a **** against Garcia. Bradley....Meh. He's gone into hiding and I think his confidence has been shattered by 'winning' a fight he knew full well he had lost badly. There hasn't been a peep out of him in 6 months and I don't think we'll see him for quite some time still. Even Diaz said he wished Bradley had lost the fight because it would have been better for them.
How is losing 2-3 rounds going life and death??? It's the same s**t people said in the Hatton fight. Supposedly Floyd went life and death with Hatton, though he only lost 1-2 rounds.
If losing 2-3 rounds is going life and death with someone, than Trout wen;t life and death against Cotto too, since he lost anywhere from 2-4 rounds.
I've always been truly baffled by this. I guess it's because they're used to seeing Mayweather win every minute of every round, so when he loses two rounds and gets jabbed in the nose of a few times, he's just gone 'life and death' whereas if it was someone other than Floyd, they would have just completely pwned the guy and totally exposed him.
The Trout fight was, to me at least, much closer than the Floyd fight. Yet Trout dominated and Floyd went 'life and death'? "peeleft:
My point is Cotto, not known for his speed was landing on Floyd too much for my taste. All I'm saying is 154lb is not a good weight for Floyd, the Cotto fight confirmed it for me.
You think Canelo is going to take those pity-pat shots from Mayweather? If Mayweather wants to beat Canelo, he is going to have to move, circle the ring non-stop, do NOT lay on the ropes. I haven't seen any of these from Floyd.
There was never any point in that fight that Mayweather wasn't in control, dictating the pace, or ever in a position that made anyone but Cotto fans think that Floyd was ever in any trouble.
But that's life and death?
Anytime a Mayweather match doesn't look like Floyd vs Gatti, its life and death to people who don't really watch or worse yet understand boxing.
