Trout is not a draw yet, and Canelo already has a belt. That's the only reason Cotto fought him. GBP will avoid the match. Too much risk for not enough reward, although I think Canelo's stock would skyrocket if he fought Trout and beat him after Trout beat Cotto. Won't happen though.

If Saul Alvarez refuses to fight Austin Trout the reason is evident.
Austin Trout would take the unprepared child to school.
De La Hoya cannot allow his cash cow to fight a true boxer.

These promoters are killing the sport by inches and dismiss men such as Mr. Trout who keep the very dream that Boxing is alive and well.

Canelo / Cotto would be no better than a WWE event.
Miguel no longer has the capacity to elevate his craft and any serious follower of the Sweet Science knows this as surely as they know the names Johnson, Robinson, Ali, Frazier or Leonard.
But cash speaks louder than words and there are still dollar signs in the name ‘Cotto’.

Just as Saul will be forced to cash out against Floyd or Austin because there is nowhere to run, Cotto will now fight for his family’s security, not the glory.

Austin Trout defined himself last night in a very important manner that cannot be ignored.
Boxing is the only sport that does not recognize a victor as ‘World Series’ friendly.
Losing is losing by any definition.

Trout/ Alvarez should be a contest DEMANDED by any true fan of this once great sport.

Yeah life ain't fair. But here is an opportunity to shed the notion that the game is always fixed on behalf of the powerful and wealthy.
Oh how Im goining to Green you for this post as soon as upper management is gracious enough to allow me to green once again.

People just keep underestimating Canelo man...I think he is the real deal. I think Cotto is way easy to hit actually, I am not sure what Trout is thinking? I am not sure who to pick with Trout/Canelo but it would be good. Not sure if Floyd is fighting Canelo but personally I think Canelo and Trout may just be too big/strong for Floyd. But hey it is his choice and respect if he can actually beat either of them. As of right now though, no one has heard a peep from Floyd and who know if he will even fight again.

Good post. Although I do think Alvarez is better than folks give him credit for.

And it's a damn shame because I think Canelo is an extremely talented fighter and does not need the extra protection that GBP is giving him.
Not only that but it actually hurts the fighter. Not only he will miss on the learnings fighters have in fighting increasingly tougher competition but other fighters will start to not like Canelo and give him bad, non educational sparring (fighters know how to do that without someone who's full of himself realizing it) and Canelo will eventually fizzle when people don't expect him to, very similarly to Chavez Jr. when he fought Martinez.
That said i think it could be a close fight. There is no way to know for sure because Canelo haven't fought no one who could fight back before.
