I've said this from day one. . It's obvious. .

He's only 5'7'' in shoes. . ANd his body frame measurements are identical to Pacquiao's (see their tale of hte tape).

Cotto belongs nowhere near 154. . FLoyd is just as "natural" at hte weight as Cotto is. . . ANd Pacquiao would be too. . .

PEople used to laugh at me, but this is the first time Cotto fought a true, natural, full-framed, PRIMED 154 pounder. . . Who is actually a top 10 calibre boxer. .

147 was his best division. But he knows his body best, and it seems he can't make WW anymore.

He just lacks speed at 154 and looks too small.

Foreman and Mayorga were hardly great wins, and Floyd and Margarito were essentially WW themselves.

LARRYX is right about this. Stop being defensive and start holding ALL fighters, even black ones yes, to the same standard. You said Floyd never dared to be great, yet one looks at his resume and it's fking the who's who of boxing WHEN they were champions. What you have today is just a bunch of Canelos who won't even fight in their own divisions, let alone go to your opponents' and challenge them there.

being he can't make 147 one can argue that he's where he should be

one could also argue he needs to train year round like a floyd does. i bet cotto could make 147 if he started training year round

about Cotto. He's too small for 154 and his best division is definitely 147 and he would still make it if he kept in the gym during his off seasons. His style also doesn't help. I used to say back in 2007 when people were telling me Cotto was the GOAT he couldn't fight walking back and to this day he remains a little robotic, not fluid enough. Those technical flaws make Cotto good when he's the stronger guy but vulnerable when he's not. So there you have Cotto, a damn good fighter who isn't quite good enough to fight above his natural weight.

We shouldnt hold potential 'Great" fighters to the same standard?

Wow so we should give floyd a pass for not proving himself enough?

I dont think so. Thats not how a real boxing fan acts.

He is naturally a welter weight but probably can't make 147 anymore.

He can compete at 154 but he lacks speed and power and gets bullied as Trout demonstrated.

It's too bad because he is someone who loses a lot with the increase in glove size between the weights. He was always someone who could destroy you physically whether he was being accurate or not. He could punch thru the gloves as they say of opponents being defensive. While pretty accurate, he'd still always make sure to hit you any and everywhere. He's not quite big enough for the weight but he can handle himself, hes lost a step but aside from that it doesnt feel like his pressure is as threatening or paying off over the rounds as much as they used to.
