I'm hoping Chavez Jr loses his next fight so the Canelo-Martinez fight can be made instead in September.
After seeing Guzman break down physically and the fact that Canelo seems to be a bad omen, I think Martinez should forget about moving to LMW. He should fight Murray, then Geale, and then Chavez Jr. if he's still relevant by that time.

yeah, that's what i was trying to say. alvarez most likely isn't getting mayweather in may, so he can fight someone like cotto or another 154 lber. martinez takes care of murray, and we can get the possibility of martinez/alvarez in september. that would be perfect. not sure who chavez is going to fight before september, some were saying macklin. i think he's got a good shot at beating macklin. chavez just has a serious size advantage over everyone at 160.

that sounds like a good plan. i just want to see alvarez/martinez cause it's a beneficial fight for both. if martinez wins, he becomes a legit opponent for mayweather (both titleholders at 154). alvarez losing would just mean he wasn't ready for someone like martinez, and he lost to a better fighter. if alvarez wins, he proves himself to be the real deal and truly would become a ppv star like gbp is doing. if martinez loses, at least he got that big payday he was looking for.

Ability wise I think he's the real deal but I'll stop sayin it until he proves it in the ring against an elite opponent.

Don't know why this would surprise anyone. Golden Boy is every bit as reprehensible as Top Rank, ESPECIALLY with Saul Alvarez.

Cotto coming off two losses? That's exactly the type of fight they would like to continue this hypejob's bullsh** career.

Alvarez beating Martinez doesn't mean as much because we don't know how Sergio's body will react to making 154. It's kinda like Ward/Dawson; the "what-if" is in place before they even step into the ring. It's a mistake to build one's career around making one specific fight happen, and Mayweather is so erratic, that I think Guerrero/Canelo/Martinez should be careful and make their decisions wisely. I mean, look at the position Canelo is in. He's being hyped up for Mayweather to chop down, how pathetic is that? Floyd should be left to languish and disappear.

I think his next move is very critical not only to how I perceive him, but his next move could map out what the rest of his career could look like.

yah eventhough i understand it would make more sense money wise to choose cotto, i feel that if canelo wants to show he's not a complete hypejob and that he is deserving of being considered a world champ he needs to start facing/beating legitimate challenges. fighting cotto imo will hurt canelo's reputation even more...it will of course help fatten up his wallet and his ego if he wins, but it'll do nothing to make guys like me see him as a legit champ and not a hypejob.
