The sad part is, some fans are already completely sold on Canelo and saying he's the real deal.

Canelo and Cotto have more ****-riders and nationalistic die-hards than some fighters have fans. The fight would still sell.

It would be a disgrace if this fight happen, I mean this is the sort of sheet that we criticise Bob Arum for.

You guys are so inconsistent. **** you guys, make the fight happen.
Morales had a competitive fight with Maidana, beat Cano for the WBC belt and then Garcia beat him. He then goes on to starch Khan, and fought Morales again because of a rematch clause. Judah won his last fight and will be the first southpaw that Garcia has fought, so it's not nearly as horrible as it's being made out to be. Garcia has not built a reputation for consistently fighting smaller/older/faded fighters like Canelo has, which is why it's frustrating that fans would still justify a fight with Cotto after he just got beat. That doesn't seem fucked up to you? I'm not even saying that Canelo/Cotto is a bad match-up, but it doesn't make any sense given the current situation.

If they want to make this fight they need to do Canelo-Trout and Cotto-Kirkland or similar and hope for the preferred outcome.

It's a big fight so i get why they want it, especially with the PR/Mexico angle, but they shouldve done so instead of the Cotto-Trout fight. Now it's too late.
I agree with this post here, this is actually a great idea and then if both Canelo and Cotto pull off the win they can then have a fight on PPV if they want, But to just make Canelo-Cotto now is disgusting.

Why is Trout a good enough opponent for Cotto, an established star and future hall of famer, but not good enough Canelo? Does Canelo thinks he's above Cotto?

his promoters know they have a money making name with alvarez in their hands. a loss now days can really set a fighter back. if they're going to risk him, they're going to put him up against someone who can also sell. they're plan was cotto then mayweather. i guess it's mayweather now. i hope mayweather chooses guerrero instead though, then it make way for alvarez to negotiate with martinez. one can dream right...they can play the "martinez defeated mexico's other future star, it's time to avenge that" card.

Well, the Martinez fight is already announced so it's not going to happen next at least. With the rumors that Floyd is planning on staying at 147, the upside is that Martinez would be Canelo's only real chance for a big PPV fight so that's more likely now. I'm hoping Chavez Jr loses his next fight so the Canelo-Martinez fight can be made instead in September.

He's already been handed the GBP throne, so why should he not feel entitled? Canelo is wielding the type of authority that's usually associated with guys who've made it to the top. Schaefer said that it's not up to him.
