Was this a star making performance? Will people still not give a damn about Trout?

Obviously more people know who Trout is after this, but would you say Trout gained a ton of new fans from this? I personally didn't come out thinking "Wow, I really want to see more of this guy" any more than I did before. This was a great win and a great name for Trout, but I don't think it was enough for Trout to really emerge as a star.

Yes, Trout is now on the verge of becoming a star.

He's like a winky wright/Bradley type of fighter and will never really have a big fan base

        Star-making performance? I don't think so.

Trout only won because he was bigger, if Cotto had any genuine pop at 154 Trout might well have been beaten.

I don't put too much stock into that stuff.... He did what he had to do to win..... Keeping racking up the W's and it will come.... I would rather have that then a flash in the pan KO and said fighter goes on to lose his next bout

He'll have gained new fans no doubt. He beat Cotto in NY.

He won't be a star, but I didn't find him boring. He traded when he could honestly, the fight was pretty exciting

Yea he lacks punching power....even though he ****ed up Cotto's face tonight...he doesn't have those devastating punches where he just might put someone to sleep....

i think to have a "star making performance" you have to destroy/whoop the bigger name. trout didn't stop him or had him too hurt, so i don't think too many people will be sold on trout after tonight. some will just excuse this loss as age/weight disadvantage for cotto.
