I've been saying it here for months, when Cotto picked Trout he bit off a little more than he could chew. The size was a major factor and the scorecards were atrocious! People that are saying Trout can beat Canelo need to factor in the fact that Canelo is fresher, bigger and hits harder than Cotto plus he is more active at this stage. Father time has caught up with Cotto, he's been in a lot of wars over the years.

Great result for Trout he worked hard and deserved the win even though some of the scores were a bit ridiculous.

Canelo v Trout should happen but Canelo would not reply when Trout called out to him from centre ring after the fight.lol

More money in a Cotto v Canelo fight but Austin Trout is the man at 154lbs.

Who will step up to fight Trout at 154 or will he have to step up to 160?

Martinez v Trout would be a cracker of a fight.

Canelo already said he won't fight him. Said he was focused on two fighters, Mayweather and Cotto. Plus let's be real here, Trout is a legit junior middle weight, Canelo doesn't want any of that

There's certain types of fighters that have just enough speed so that with their timing can use their power. Cotto is that type of fighter. The problem is that when the speed falls off they go from elite to ineffective. I think that's what we saw here tonight.

Thank goodness he didn't fight Manny, Lord that would have been brutal.

STYLES MAKE FIGHTS! And Trout Style is a ***IN NIGHTMARE! Vernon Forrest was one of my favorite fighters growing up, that is who Trout Reminds me of, he doesn't do one thing Spectacular but he does EVERYTHING WELL which makes him so difficult to prepare for because you can't prepare for just ONE THING

But Much Respect to Cotto, me picking against him wasn't personal, Cotto was and will always be one of my favorites but I pick fighters based on Skills In The Ring, not based on PRIDE REASSURANCE and Trout out-classing him comes as NO SHOCKER

And by the way it is no ***in way GBP let Canelo go anywhere near Trout, that fight would be like Vernon Forrest vs Shane Mosley, I think Trout has a easier time with Canelo then he had with Cotto IMO
Great Post. Especially the part about making picks based on pride

119-109 was too wide, but that was a very clear 9-3 or 8-4 Trout decision. I am very impressed by his performance on the biggest stage of his career.

good for trout tho, good kid
Jesus. People jump at the chance to hate Mayweather. You should really put aside your bias and try to learn something about this sport.
Trout fought a good fight. He used his considerable advantages to out fox Cotto. I figured this would be a fight Cotto would come up short in. That said, he did better than the cards suggest. Not sure why Paulie kept praising Trout, then giving the rounds to Cotto (really, a draw?), but the judges seemed a little far on the other end. I had Trout up 4.

I spent the whole time wondering why Trout didn't throw the uppercut. Works good on people that hold their hands high like Cotto, generally speaking. When he mixed it in Cotto started grabbing a lot to make it a dirty fight, but by then Trout had settled down.
He caught Cotto a few times with good uppercuts. When Cotto got inside it was easier for him to get off than Trout, so Austin chose to either move or hold and reset, which was the right gameplan.
