I'm surprised. I thought Cotto was in the 3-5 M dollar class.

I sure he will be in that range after PPV and promo money kicks in. Also, a lot of promoter/fighters report lower purses for tax purposes.

Like i said maybe thats all hes claiming. A while back it was widely reported Pac only makes 6 mil per fight then many argued its not truehe makes 28 mil a fight now thats 22 mil more and he isnt the promoter so im not saying cotto will make 22 mil more but at least 10 is very doable

there's no reason at all to post a purse that's calculated in that sense (after filing your income taxes,)

he's not making 10 million dollars to fight austin trout. he got an 8 million dollar base in the mayweather fight, which was enormous.

Wait till poor Austin Trout sees Bloomberg's cut in addition to Uncle Sam. Figure luxury tax is damn near 50%. I'd be surprised if he saw half of the 250K after taxes, promoter fees, his corner and manager's take, etc.

Trout is fortunate to even get a dime from any of that. I don't know if Cotto will clear that much but he will certainly get a nice bump.
