I agree to a certain degree with Merchant's stance on Mayweather-Guerrero. For arguably the best fighter in the world, Ghost qualifies as nothing more than a "stay busy" fight. That said, what are Mayweather's other options? Its pretty much set in stone that Pac will be fighting Rios next. Martinez's entire 2013 is gonna be tied up with the Jr rematch. Outside Ghost, Canelo is Mayweather's only other option. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think Mayweather wants any part of fighting north of the welterweight division again. His body simply can't handle it. He may wait and see what happens with Alexander-Brook. But neither of those guys will sell any better than Ghost. So as a fan, I would rather see Mayweather-Canelo. But if I were advising Floyd, Ghost is probably the more practical and logical choice.

larry larry, not sure if beating berto puts him in the category to face mayweather, along with manny and saul? who has ginger beat to earn a shot at floyd? fck canelo and his average at best resume. maby robert doesn't deserve a floyd fight, but one thing is for sure, and thats ginger definitly doesn't. the most impressive thing to me in that fight(and there were a few things) was roberts skill and footwork to deal with tht shoulder roll. the ghost is slick and he gonna be handing out beatings. peace ya'll

Guerrero is more deserving of a fight vs Mayweather. Guerrero jumped up two weight classes and sacrificed himself to reach his dream fight while Canelo makes guys go up in weight and fights smaller guys.

Its not like Berto could have said anything about HIS game inside the ring. Not like that was flawless or anything. Commenting on the ref is a cop out and a cheap way to go about it... unless you fight Abner Mares and Raul Caiz lets him low blow you 40 times a round. But even Anselmo Moreno was gracious about that.

Merchant is right on in his opinion of Berto. But at 81 it's time for some youth on HBO. Jim Lampley is simply terrible and biased and just a poor announcer and should go also. Let Kellerman and Roy Jones do the shows. Lampley sucks.

dont know why berto was complaining...he always holds in jis fights...hit robert several times behind the head...even his corner at the end of the fourth told him to stop holding...he just upset a naturally smaller man beat him up

Larry Merchant loves these fights, no skills, brawling, holding and hitting. So no surprise.

we all know larry merchant's a buffoon and should've been replaced years ago. guerrero deserved the win, but beating berto doesn't qualify him for a date with mayweather and the ref was horrible. there was excessive holding and hitting on both sides more so by guerrero and when berto's corner mentioned it to the ref they were told it was ok....ok???? what ref says that? it was obvious he was intimidated by the crowd. berto's problem was when the ref said that he should've took it to the streets and he could'nt.
