Why do we only ever hear about boxers who end up broke?

Because boxers end up worse off and get taken advantage of more often due to the lack of education involved with the participants. Think about it, there are some dumb cats in the NFL and NBA that didn't take their schooling seriously but there is a good chunk that learned something. How many boxers even have some college education.
So once guys are done as a boxer they pretty much has nothing to fall back on (there are less TV jobs for boxers also).
Also there is the whole health factor, many boxers end up broke down physically as well as being in abject poverty (broke and poverty are two different things) also so it is just a complete sob story, some NFL guys ended up like that especially older ones but now they have a pretty good retirement plan. there ain't no retirement plan set up by anybody for boxers.Comment

Where did you pull those rumors out of?lennox Lewis tweeted that
to flex the fact that he's worth 150 million dollars STILL.
Lewis is a evil genius that somehow managed to trick people into giving him 10 million dollars against Tucker.. (which is around 17 million by today's standards).
Lennox's true networth is actually much much higher than the 150 million. Sources close to me said that Lewis have a chain of resturants all across the world that people don't know about.
[B]Rumors are that he's the real owner of In N Out burgers as well.[\B]Comment

Well...partly because boxers can become huge worldwide stars....nfl players not so much... Nba players can, but they generally have income coming in from sponsors, etc due to practically the mandatory exposure aside from just their salary.
A boxer known enough to become news on being poor was probably a huge name. Only a few boxers make crazy money....
People who casually follow football or the nba cant name all the people on a team... So nobody knows about that broke lineman who was making more money than the WR...
If you tell someone Pacquiao or Floyd is broke 10 years from now, everyone knows. Everyone would know Kobe, Lebron, or Tom Brady (in the US) went broke...but who cares if Kendrick Perkins is broke 5-10 years from now? Lol.Comment

Some people have misunderstood,
I wasnt confused about why it was reported when boxers went broke, just that you never hear about with other sports. Despite (if lewis is to be believed) them going broke the majority of the time.
But NearHypnos gave a good angle which i hadnt thought about so yeah, pointless thread thread really!Comment
