Why do we only ever hear about boxers who end up broke?

Lennox Lewis just tweeted that 78% of Nfl players are broke within 2 years, 60% of Nba players within 5...

Its such a classic stereotype that boxing champions are poor after they retire, why is this not the same in other sports where the majority end up the same?

If there is an economic reason for Americans not choosing to box nowadays then the fact that so many are reported to be broke must be a big factor.

Obviously Lewis isn't an expert on statistics or whatever but I doubt he'd pull them completely out of nowhere...

Sergio Martinez damn sure won't be. He has a bunch of successful businesses in Argentina, and that was before his fight with Chavez.

You just have to be self motivated, and realize your boxing income's going to stop sooner or later.

It's more reported in Boxing because it's a individual sport on a fight by fight basis where fighters come from the gutter and don't have an education, where your promoters/managers can pull a fast one on you and cheat you out of your money. Where your handlers mismanage your assets, and don't do your taxes.

Because the NFL/NBA is a league sport and a team sport and it's athletes come out of "College", it's assumed that it's more secure and that they can be more financially responsible because they're 'educated'. Not really, because the same rules apply even to a talented player on a multi-million dollar contract.

                lennox Lewis tweeted that

to flex the fact that he's worth 150 million dollars STILL.

Lewis is a evil genius that somehow managed to trick people into giving him 10 million dollars against Tucker.. (which is around 17 million by today's standards).

Lennox's true networth is actually much much higher than the 150 million. Sources close to me said that Lewis have a chain of resturants all across the world that people don't know about.

Rumors are that he's the real owner of In N Out burgers as well.

negeative news is the only news that matter.

                  Example:

Headline: This guys invest his money now he rich
Replies: Good for him, what he want a cookie

Headline: This guy was rich now he is broker on welfare
Replies: what a dumbass, he gets what he deserves.

they broke cuz they are often flamboyant on and off the ring.

and also cuz they are often broke with high peak earnings.

usually high-paid athletics are into many "business" ventures....often opening restaurants that go out of biz...

and nevermind the entourage of leeches.
