Hes fighting Kelvin Price next who makes it interesting based on his size. It is a step in the right direction I guess but Price is nearly 40. I felt Tor Hamer beat him, I am pretty sure I felt his fight with Julius Long could of gone either way and no disrespect to Julius Long but he is quite possibly the biggest, most useless heavyweight in boxing history.

Price (not to be confused with David Price) is a big heavyweight, old & inexperienced and sure he has some power, all heavyweights do but he really doesn't hit very hard considering the sheer size of the guy if that makes sense.

Its an interesting fight due to the size factor of both guys being giants but he really does need to just step it up.

Hopefully in 2013 he does and fights the likes of, maybe even say Oliver McCall, Fres Oquendo or Juan Carlos Gomez.

Bika & Miranda are not exactly what I'd call bums & Andrade was a a good super middleweight at the time Bute fought him and was coming off K.O wins over Mack and Stieglitz.

Reality is these guys are head & shoulders above anything Wilder has ever faced.
His C.V is far superior to Wilders.

I feel you man - WIlder doesn't deserve hate, but he definitely doesn't deserve praise either. . . I'm simply reserving my opinion about Wilder. . .

The best guy he's fought is heavily faded Owen "What the Heck" Beck who has lost 7 straight fights in a row going into the WIlder bout.

So yeah, he doesn't really deserve hate, but he's equally undeserving of praise, and hype.

I never put much stock into "sparring footage," much less secondhand comments about how one did in sparring. Sparring means ****. . . .

sparring doesnt mean much, everyone has good and bad days in the gym. its what you do on fight night that matters and so far wilder hasnt fought anyone who could even remotely put him to the test.

trying to judge him regardless of the oposition i havent been impressed with his skills at all. he is an outstanding athlete though, young too and there arent too many quality prospects out there in the HW division imo. with the right trainer and alot of hard work he might become a force one day, but at this time its impossible to tell.

First off, who even knows if this is true? It could be a complete fabrication or just a matter of subjective opinion. Second, it was sparing, which as most people know isn’t at all like fight night. Third, the problem with this is it’s almost impossible to give Wilder the benefit of the doubt on this. I will never disrespect any athlete who has the courage to step into the ring, so the kindest thing I can say about Wilder’s opponents is that none of them were anywhere near being contenders. You are trying to tell me he went from that level to all of a sudden giving the champion a hard time? I suppose it’s possible, but let’s just say it’s highly unlikely.

Those are seriously difficult fights even though all those guys are over 50 now.
McCall can punch and has the best chin in the division, Gomez is a good boxer when not eating too much, he's rarely lost, and Oquendo quite possibly beat James Toney but got the shaft.
That's a hard road but I do agree he needs to step up MORE.

p.s julius long being 7-2 is probably even worse at basketball than fighting. ha ha ha.

It's not hate he just hasn't done anything or beaten anybody worth talking about. He'll get attention when he fights somebody half decent ... for example if it had been wilder in there with seth mitchell instead of banks and he did a number on mitchell this place would be full of threads on wilder and that he's going places. But when he's in there with middleweights and old has beens or never weres you can't expect people to be talking about him. Anyway that's enough of this thread for me let him beat somebody good or even top 50 until then he doesn't deserve to be talked about.

Wlad said that Deontay is very talented fighter whose fast and skilled and he feels Deontay gonna be a great heavyweight. The haters tried to discredit Wlads comments by saying "Oh Wlads just saying that cause he sparred with him"Then one of them showed a vid of Deontay struggling a little bit with a journeymen to try to further discredit Wlads message even though Deontay improved since that fight and Wlad himself got beat by 2 journeymen in Ross Purity and Lamon Brewster and went on to improve and be 1 of the 2 best heavyweights in the world. And now we hear someone outside of Wlad and his camp saying they were impressed by Deontay.

I could hear the haters unscrewing the haterade now getting ready to throw that verbal fire filled with hate.
i'm not discrediting wilder or wlad but this is only sparring...tye fields pushed sam peter & hasim rahman around sparring before the barrett fight. tye fields beat up arreola(klitschko training camp) sparring & got sent home after a week...sparring is good but it's a whole different ballgame when it's fight night...
