Camacho was outside a bar in a parked Ford Mustang with a friend when he was shot in the face. The friend, identified as 49-year-old Adrian Mojica Moreno, was killed. Camacho was rushed to Centro Medico, where doctors initially said he was fortunate in that the bullet passed through his head and lodged in his shoulder. Torres did state that Camacho could be paralyzed from the shooting.

If anybody on this God’s green earth that we live in wants to say they know the greatest sport in the World and that’s my beloved Boxing, then you have to say you watched Hector “Macho” Camacho’s career because I know a lot of you guys hate him but to me he was 1 of a kind at his time in the 80’s and it was Hec that got me into the sport at a young age and because of that I feel like I might lose another great (Emanuel Stewart) of the sport in such a short period of time… I love you Hec and I thank you for all the good times & money I made while you were running ****..Get up Champ no man alive ever knocked you out and it had to take a manmade weapon to put you in the Klink..

          Gracias Primo,

I can't understand how people can complain about how Puerto Rico has declined when it is a world wide epidemic. Mexico is an outright war zone and certain parts of the US have been decimated by this scourge. It's outright shameful, so people try to clean it up and defend their county's pride, but that's just denial. He got caught up in the drug war and now we're saying goodby to a great warrior. Yet we have other fighters and countless others who have dabbled and fed this monster and they act as if it was just fun. Well, this is the result of your fun. God will accept Camacho, no matter what, but he didn't have to go like this. God Damn *******.

I hated Macho as a fighter, but I never missed one of his fights. He was one of my favorite fighters.

I know it doesn't look good for him, so when you read this, I want you to yell, I mean really yell as loud as you can: IT'S MACHO TIME!

people tried to make him out to be a racist after that statement. but anybody that knew hector knew he was no racist. i know this personally he was my friend and i was a virtual nobody in the sports world. a man from the medical world that dabbled in boxing. hector loved to trash talk but he loved all races. if you were cool he was cool.
