Nope, just look at a young Wladimir punching himself out in just 5 rounds against Brewster lol. Or a young Vitali absolutely exhausted by the 6th against a 38 year old out of shape Lewis, I could understand Lewis being gassed but not a young prime guy in Vitali.

Vitali had a bad cut and he still was throwing more punches than majority of fighters averages in their best fights.
HWs used to be in incredible shape, just look at Ali-Frazier going 14 rounds not only was it a war but they were fighting these 14 rounds in 100+ degree weather with 90% humidity, it probably felt like it was around 115 degrees out there, amazing. Now days you've got guys with low workrates tiring in the 6th round fighting in air conditioned arenas lol.

Lot of past HW were comparable to today's cruiseweights.
Foreman is the typical example of real HW in any era (including today's era).
That being said Foreman was badly gassed in Ali's fight. But he rarely needed to go on distance. It would be similar with today's bests.

Bowe was taught by Eddie Futch the legendary trainer. It's no wonder why he had such a polished inside game for a big Heavyweight of his size. It's a lost art these days.
What people don't realize is that Ali was a big man at 6'3 at 215lb and would have no problem fitting in today's division.

Foreman only had that problem in his first Career, when he came back he learnt to pace himself better plus he improved his Jab.
Lewis went fine over 12 rounds, look at Mercer fight a classic slugfest. It's about the mentality and work ethic is shit; Arreola, Povetkin, Solis, Helenius even looked happy to finish the fight. All these guys are not keen on fighting each other and staying active.
