Agbeko,Vic and Moreno are all far from saints and **** me this isnt figure skating.
What he did to agbeko in the first fight was undoubtedly intentional. Also. The back punch and elbow shot were both just plain dirty. No "style" excuse for either of those.

And when moreno pushed the head down, he not only lost a point and got the blame for mares' low blows. So much for that strategy.

Why some people are biased and can't see the whole picture? If somebody is going to complain about low blows then Moreno was also hitting Mares consistently below the waist (in fact both were very even in that as you could appreciate replaying the fight without being biased). How many of those blow of both boxers were intentional is difficult to say. Mares was pursuing and attacking relentlessly Moreno and the Panama native many times was using his hands and arms to put Mares' head down (that also contributes to get low blows). The referee warned Chemo few times and finally in the 11th round a point was deducted to Moreno for continuing doing it. In the knock down, there was certainly a punch and I believed that Chemo tried to hug the lower body of Mares but all his momentum couldn't avoid the fall. Mares won beyond the KD and point deduction on the basis of punch volume (total punches) and power punches. Abner was more active, has the determination and hunger to win although I would never agree with the ******** score of 120-106 but I would say to the whiners and haters to stop crying.

As far as back is turned I've only seen it once and in this fight due to Moreno turning.

How many pressure fighters don't fight like that?
There was no excuse for the back shot. If caiz hadn't stopped him, he'd have hit him a second time.

Go watch the first agbeko fight again and then you'll understand why people are disgusted by his tactics. My god, you rarely hear bernstein criticize refs, but he sure did today. So did joe cortez. Are they biased too?

I"m curious. if your Mares trainer, do you tell him stop going to the body? or do you ask for more of the same? The thing is in boxing the ref decides who is bending the rules not the keyboard warriors. Tito was as dirty as they come, ask him what went through his mind when david reid floored him,or when vargas had him in trouble. It wasnt clinch or run, it was fist-balls. yet Tito is loved by millions.

pretty clear Mares was throwing low blows and sometimes nobody was pushing his head down.

against Agbeko same old same old

and tonight against Chemito Moreno the same again.

how many excuses will people make for this guy??? bad refs, bad judges and excuse after excuse. seriously how much evidence does someone need to see this guy is dirty.

no fighter can constantly have "inept" refs. their comes a point when you always seem to have inept refs that it becomes clear they aren't inept and they're probably paid off.

This is Golden Boy's 1st home grown champion and they've made it clear they'll pull all the stops out for this guy. this is the 3rd time this has happen, seriously this is worse than ANYTHING Arum has done.

at least Arum lets his in house fighters go at it.

i wasn't scoring the fight, but i think mares won the fight somewhere like 7-5 (add the point deduction and KD). i respect mares, but one thing i don't like about the guy is that he is frequently associated with low blows in his fights. that said, he beat moreno tonight. props to him for that. going into the fight, i honestly thought moreno would come out with a 7-5/8-4 type of decision win. one thing that was awful to see were those scorecards. it just ensures that sometimes fighters are going to lose as soon as they sign the contracts.

Tonight is the reason why I don't like Mares. He seems like a really good dude and I'm happy for his success in the ring, but his fights are just painful to watch and ALWAYS seem to involve multiple low blows. I picked Moreno to win this fight but Mares' pressure proved to be too much for Moreno. Good gameplan by Mares, it's a shame it was accompanied with repeated fouls.

Props to Mares for getting the UD over a tough opponent in Moreno. I thought he won the fight but it was closer than what the scorecard showed. And yeah, Mares IMO is a dirty fighter. Hopefully GBP and TR can come up with an agreement to make the fight with Donaire happen. It would certainly make for an interesting bout.
