Iirc he had a broken hand at that point and Bute wanted Froch, I guess CF looked more beatable to Team Bute.

The Oosthuizen-GGG winner is a good fight, particularly if GGG looks effective there.

Pavlik, GGG, Dirrell and possibly a Kessler rematch are good fights for Ward in 2013. I think he wins them all.
I would still like to see him with all the belts if he can, and if he does stay at 168 as you say, then who is he supposed to fight? Froch and AA have belts, so why not beat them again?

I cant see anyone at LHW who would be certain of beating him, so why not make a foray into that division? Its all about how he plots his career path and what he wants to do from here.

If we're using competition as the main criteria for the #1 P4P slot, I don't see how anyone could argue against Andre Ward taking it over Floyd, Manny and Sergio.

He won the Super-Six, which would have been enough for me, but then he soundly beat a super talented, bigger guy in Chad Dawson. He's #1 right now.

Forget about him ever losing, it's not going to happen, it's just how many names he can get on his resume now
5 or so years from now people will talk **** about Froch, AA, Bad Chad and Kessler like as if they where old, shot, past prime and Ward cherry picked them.

People that dislike him will bring up his victory over Chad being out of his comfort weight, that Kessler was already beat by Calzaghe. That AA was never that good to begin with etc. etc.

Of course I agree that Ward will go on to do big things but like other fighters who are just as great people will aways find a reason to talk **** about them even when they fight the best as to others, there always seems to be someone else that is better due to the fact that Ward didn't fight them at the exact time or weight class that they wanted it to take place.

Ward plays the nice guy but people will still hate on the guy as they already do. Can't please everybody but Ward IS the best fighter in the sport right now, no doubt about it.

His intelligence is why he will be special. The special fighters are the ones able to find any fighter's weakness and exploit it, and Ward has been able to do that in every fight at a world class level. It's a truly remarkable skill.

I'm a fan of Ward and he's one of my favourite active fighters but I'm not sure if he's that good yet.

Yep agree here. There is no argument in terms of resume. Wards style and what he does on the inside is not always aesthetically pleasing, especially to your general fan but for those who can appreciate the difficulty involved and the skill it takes appreciate what Ward is all about. (I'm not suggesting those who think Ward is not top lack any knowledge on the game before anyone spits the dummy out)

I'm also not naive enough to mention all time lists or anything like that as I believe there is no unbiased way or comparing current active fighters to past ones. Who can truly say they they know enough about all past stand out fighters at a weight to make a true comparison anyway. There can be very few.

Besides us boxing fans are very fickle, one bad performance and someone goes from potential GOAT to hype job in 36 minutes.

If you consider Wards age, achievements already, his absolute comfort at dispatching top opponents etc .....He has to be top by a considerable margin CURRENTLY.

Agreed. Been a fan since he was an amateur.

Yeah.....Ward should definitely be ranked above guys like JMM, Pac, Martinez, etc.......he has dominated multiple divisions and numerous undefeated boxers like those other guys have. All their career achievements pale in comparison to a Kessler or Froch victory.....smh.

                    Pretty spot on.

People will hate on him because he plays the good guy role (yet will hate on him if he were to do a Floyd).

It's just the way the some/most fans are sadly. No-one will ever truly get their props that they deserve (not in this day and age).

Who does he have to beat to convince you?

For me the only thing he has left to do is win a big fight in his opponent's backyard, granted he may never do this.

Ward's not playing a role imo he's just being himself.
