** It should be noted the reason the kid was driven into the ropes to begin with is that he was shook up by a perfect flush right hand, so he took 2 flush rights within seconds of each other and was up quick after the KD. Roach needs to temper that fighting instinct and teach the kid to take the count before rising. Zabby tried to jump up quick a few years and ended up as a highlight joke emailed around the world.
Its an outstanding performance for young pugilist like Rey... the fact that he is just in the beginning of his career and he fought an experienced and tougher opponent and another thing its a lucky punch just like pacquiao experienced with hussien... an abrupt punch! But in the process he was able to redeemed himself and conquered the mexican with his courage and talent altogether... This kid will become a champion someday just stay focus and descipline on what he's doing, he's still young and its a long way to go...
A fairly large number of people were impressed when JMM got a draw after falling three times in the first round in the hands of Pac. Bautista turned everything around after that second round KD and won by UD.
Rafael Marquez has three losses on his record: all by stoppages. In his first officially recorded outing he suffered an 8th round KO in the hands of veteran Victor Rabanales in 1995. Some three years later he was taken out (TKO) in the third by a fighter named Mateos. Then, in November 2000, he was, in the 2nd round, KOd by Genaro Garcia.
That comes up to 12 and a fraction fights for every KO/TKO loss, given that he has todate, 38 officially recorded fights. Rafa is seldom, if ever, called glass chinned.
Bautista is 19-0 with only one KD suffered which he turned into a W by UD.
This is not saying Bautista is ready for Marquez, right now. All that is being said is that Bautista, despite the KD, still is on track to a date with Rafa.
But if I were to be asked, I think Bautista should take up a couple of fights next year and then try to face WBA Bantam king Wladimir Sidorenko, who has only 6 KOs in an 18-0 record. The Germany-based Ukrainian won the vacant title after unanimously decisioning Julio Zarate in Feb this year.
To face Sidorenko, however, it seems Rey has to fly to Germany. Sidorenko does not have a very active travel plan and passport: he has fought only twice outside Germany-- in Poland and his native Ukraine.
If Bautista wins over Sidorenko, he'll have much better credentials when he calls out Rafa; and, yes, better prospects of more $$$$$. It's going to be a unification match, after all.
