Should Boom Boom's next opponent be a Latino fighter again? On the top 10 ranking of the bantamweight in the Ring magazine, 5 fighters are from Mexico.
Boom boom won by UD!!!

so you think Rey should keep his tomato can meals for at least 3 more fights before stepping up?Originally posted by Manny_PIMO Bautista need a few more easy fights to tighten up his skills. This guy he fought tonight is a bum who was throwin wild shots.
Bautista coulda made an easier work if he wasn't rushing to knock this guy out. Clearly he is still young. He got caught with some of the most telegraphed punches I've seen. It's all becuz he wants to KO this guy quick.
He'll improve and definitely will be champ!
Rey is already rising star in the Philippine billed as the next big thing, i think he should fight more in the states preferably Mexicans (they are tough Hombres) to get important US exposure...Comment

yea I think so. I mean that KD hurt him and I think fightin easy fights fo now is OK to build up his confidence again.Originally posted by JOM'Sso you think Rey should keep his tomato can meals for at least 3 more fights before stepping up?

Personally, I don't want our boi to get rushed into the big scene. He's 19, take his time and hone his skills. He's really good right now, but he needs mo practice.
and also, I don't know why his team put him up against this opponent. HE WAS HUGE. That Mexican musta outweighed Bautista by at least 15 lbs. LOL!Comment

No more Tomato Cans. I say keep the level of opposition and stepping it up. He learned his lesson and as we all saw the KD did not diminish any confidence. He got up right away and started looking for a war immediately after the KD. Even Pac has gotten KD before. Remember the first round KD by Hussien. That was only a jab. Rey got rocked. Rey needs to apply what he has learned with Espinoza. Throw him againts a Tomato can and he might start forgetting that some fighters can knock him the hell out. The sooner he comes to grips with his limitations, the sooner he can adjust, improve and maybe overcome.Originally posted by Manny_Pyea I think so. probably two to three tune up fights both outside the philippines, then go after a top 10 contender, doesnt have to be at the top 5, which is very dangerous.Originally posted by Manny_PIMO Bautista need a few more easy fights to tighten up his skills. Yeah your totally right,he should have just stood there and gotten KO'ed.WHAT THE **** WAS HE THINKING?!Originally posted by SuckaPunchI didn't say the early rounds, I said most of the rounds. But we have to give credit to Espinoza, he was connecting with his jabs and some occasional power punches. Nevertheless, Boom2x controlled the tempo for most of the rounds.
I'm still pissed off about the last round. Espinosa pulled a "Dela Hoya against Tito" chicken run, probably even worse, because Espinoza combined it with Ruiz' hugging skills. Man, I swear, Rey would've pulled that KO if not for that ***** move.Comment

Dude, I remember when you said Boom2x reminded you Tito Trinidad. Well, last night was a perfect example, getting knocked down along the way but still finishing strong and never losing confidence.Originally posted by ELPacmanLet's not forget, the kid is only 19 years old! What were you doing or are doing at 19? I'd say it was an excellent test for him. You have to get knocked down to see how you can handle things. Also, getting knocked down by this guy can't be seen as a bad thing. He has 26 knockouts outta 28 fights! He definitely has power. You know when you got 2 power punchers in the ring, they gotta give respect to each other or someone is gonna go down being careless(Cotto-Torres). What was good though is that Rey always stayed confident and to his gameplan which was to work the body early then go for the head in the later rounds. The knockdown didn't discourage him which was a good sign.
Some side notes. Anyone else think this guy looked really big compared to Rey? The showing replays of only the mexican guy did annoy me a lot. It was like, round after round you wanted to see the replay of these punches that would knock Espinosa back or move him, yet all I kept seeing was Espinosa throwing a jab or counter punch at Rey. I mean cmon!Comment

I was at this fight live and it was sloppy slugish war (pretty entertaining) and I dont know how it looked on tv but Bautista got hell of lucky because i tought for sure he was out! good move on the part of refere for not stopping it. I think this guy is way to green or just aint going to make it because Espinosa was just a gate keeper imagine when he gets up their with the big boys. Good thing he's only 19 but i still think viloria is a better fighter then boom boom but when ever any of these two are ready to step it up their be a tough mexican waiting.Comment
