He said manny Pacquaio lost stock cause of the BS lost he has to Timothy Bradley. LOl you lost stock just as much Mayweather without taking a lost, when was Mayweather or Pacquaio last impressive victory?

They on the same level in terms of stock IMO.

      • I knew this would be an instant classic. The fans just can't help themselves. All of you are being fooled by both Manny and Floyd. Ask yourself this, do you think Floyd and Manny would make more money fighting each other or fighting what they believe would be easier fights? If either one loses what happens to either of their stocks? Both know that by not fighting each other then they can make more money then fighting each other because the risk is too high for both. Why do you think Manny signed another 2 year contract with Arum? This all stems down to money.

But Ill play devil's advocate. Answer this question, then.

If Bob Arum was the blame in 2008, show me 1 article, just 1 measley article from 2008 saying so?

              Just one?

You won't find it, you know why?

Because unlike today, with Floyd-Pac, Arum wasnt the reason. At the time, Floyd wasn't even entertaining a fight with Cotto because of his fanbase and retirement. Just see the interview after the Hatton fight.

Merchant asks Floyd to fight Cotto; why doesn't FLoyd say "I'm trying but Arum is getting in the way"?

He didn't, you know why? Because he wanted no part of Cotto, but instead "Didn't want to talk about any welterweights and needed a break".

Absolutely nothing about Arum like what we're hearing today. Sure Arum didn't push like he should have, but the media and fans were asking for that fight which is what's most important. Especially to "Money" Mayweather.

Floyd was his own boss then, just like he is now; and he made absolutely no attempt to make that fight when it was the hottest. So then he uses his conflict with Arum now as an excuse to why the fight wasn't made in 08.

I don't buy that because we would've heard about it in 08. Especially from Floyd who holds no secrets and isn't quiet about anything. Instead we heard about vacations, retirements and fan bases; NOTHING about Arum.
The same guy who accuses me of always being on Floyd Mayweather threads is on here bashing him. Ironic. Don't feel like pulling up your posts about that topic either so just don't reply about it. Also, look at this guy with a sig of what I said about Garcia. Look at my sig of what he said about the potential fight between Matthysse/Garcia, and see who the real triangle theory specialist is. This dork compared an 8 loss, 32 year old, 135 Soto to an undefeated, 24 year old, 140 Garcia. You should stop or else I'll thrash you again. Now, on to the Cotto topic. First off, Cotto has admitted that he wasn't even ready for Floyd prior to the fight they just had when he was primed so what are you talking about? Mayweather always wanted the fight but Arum didn't. I'm not going to debate with you but rather leave it to the articles.....

Avenging the loss turned out to be a blessing in disguise in terms of when Cotto opted to take on Mayweather Jr. The fight has been discussed as far back as 2005, when both were undefeated 140 lb. titlists still fighting under the Top Rank banner. Mayweather Jr. pushed for the fight at the time, only for Arum to instead attempt to shove a Margarito fight down his throat.

The move was one of the final straws in their love-hate relationship, as Mayweather would fight just once more for Top Rank – defeating Zab Judah in Apr’ 06 – before leaving the company for good.

Cotto fought for the Las Vegas-based outfit for his entire career before his renegotiated contract ran out after the Margarito rematch last December. There were no hard feelings between fighter and promoter as they went their separate ways. Cotto knew it was the right move, if he had any chance at securing the fight he believes comes at the perfect time in his career.

“Everything happens in life for a reason,” Cotto explains. “The fight could’ve happened 4, 5, 6 years ago, but it happens now. I feel better right now. I feel that after Margarito’s fight on December 3. I feel much better about myself. I think this is the right moment for this fight.”

He and Mayweather held and defended the WBA and WBC shares of the welterweight title in 2006 and 2007 amid some chatter of unification, but Cotto, now 31, said the existing circumstances – in the heavier weight class, with bigger gloves and with new trainer Pedro Diaz now on the team – had created “the right moment for this fight.”

“I feel confident coming off of the victory over Margarito, who beat me in 2008. I feel great. I feel in my prime,” he said. “When you have always been available to face anyone and been willing to face anyone and never said no to anyone, any fight is easy to make.

"We're looking for guys like Ricky Hatton and 'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather. So you're seeing now the finishing touches on the emerging superstar, and in 2006 hopefully he will be able to claim the mantle of the real, real superstar."

Hatton emerged as the recognized 140-pound champion with his TKO of Kostya Tszyu June 11. Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king who is also promoted by Arum, stopped Arturo Gatti to claim a junior welterweight title two weeks later.

Cotto against either man would certainly qualify as a super fight, but before either match can be explored seriously, he has to keep winning."
              Bob Arum himself.
Bob Arum didn't want the fight. It's still not clear for you? Can't find that article on boxingscene regarding Cotto saying he was not ready for Mayweather so if anyone has it then send me the link. It was really interesting. I think I made my point though.

Arum wouldnt get any extra. Arums cut comes from Pacs 45%. just like Haymon's % would come from floyds 55%.

What about Chop Chop Corely after he loss to Judah; he fought Corley no problem?

Cotto's status was nothing in May 2012 compared to what it was before he loss to Margarito. In fact, the only reason he made the Cotto fight was because the Pac fight fell through. Compared to 2008, that was "THE" only fight the fans wanted; instead he retired and opted to negotiate a 2nd fight with DLH.

Man GTFOH lol Mayweather is on some other schit right now.
