I remember my dad waking me up at 9:30 or so, telling me the fights were on. I was about 12 and he didn't let me up that late that often, so I got up and watched the first fight, Daniel Santos vs Antonio Margarito. Good fight, but then came Cotto vs Kelson Pinto. He just barnstormed Pinto and I remember saying to my dad, "That's my favorite fighter." Been a Cotto fan ever since.

EDIT: For clarification purposes, I'm refering to both all-time and current favorites. I'm relatively young, so Cotto is my all-time and current favorite.
I hated Floyd until he retired then I felt we needed a slick flashy boxer. When he fought JMM I was MORE than impressed. But when he beat Shane I was like WHOOAAA. I spent the time between the mosley fight and the cotto fight taking up for him, until he said take the test after the cotto fight.

I remember my dad taking me to his friends house and I saw Tito fight for the first time. He was fighting on a Chavez undercard when he fought Yori Boy Campos and knocked him out. He really impressed me the way he won I liked how he was always calling out Sweet Pea wanting to fight him all the time. He was always calling out fighters wanting to fight the best.

          favorite

Current favorite has to be Bradley, mostly cuz hes a local guy in my town but also cuz of his underrated overall skills and he ducks nobody (though I know he is hardcore hated cuz of the ****** pacquiao fight), but I got to defend my boy Margarito I know a lot of fans see him as a cheater and he lost against cotto the 2nd time but even in his loss he never backed up he was a come forward all action guy and besides his already messed up eye which made him look badly hurt he was not hurt by cotto's punches at all ( cuz of pacquiao) I believe he would have stopped cotto a second time had they not stopped the fight...

My favorite fighter, probably ever was/is Jake LaMotta. Mind you, I never seen him fight. I remember watching the movie starring Robert DeNiro, Raging Bull and I was like six or seven with my grandfather and just in awe. My grandpa use to always praise PR greats, some mexican greats and so forth, but man, he always said LaMotta was the toughest man to ever put gloves on, so watching the movie I was just hooked to boxing and LaMotta. I was a fan of the sport since.

Currently, my favorite fighter is Cotto. He brings so many tangibles and qualities. First, he has skills/technique which I highly value. Secondly, he's just a tough guy, like a LaMotta and he has alot of heart. He was hurt bad in the Margs and Pacquiao fight but lasted as long as he could. He was considered/still is shot to ***** against Mayweather and was with him till the end. He's backed down from nobody, he takes one anyone and isn't afraid of the avoided fighters and more recently is in a position to easily duck a fighter who is young, prime and boast many physical advantages over him in Trout, but he's giving him a chance. I respect that.

But what made me a fan of him was the Torres fight. I remember watching a fight or two of him prior and was just like 'meh, he's pretty decent' but not much else, then boom, the Torres fight, that I have no idea how he stayed upright after eating so much leather. He took everything Torres through at him and then came back to get the KO. From then on, I really took notice that he had more than just skill, but heart. So been a fan since
