How did your favorite fighter become your favorite?

We all have a favorite fighter. How did that happen?

I remember my dad waking me up at 9:30 or so, telling me the fights were on. I was about 12 and he didn't let me up that late that often, so I got up and watched the first fight, Daniel Santos vs Antonio Margarito. Good fight, but then came Cotto vs Kelson Pinto. He just barnstormed Pinto and I remember saying to my dad, "That's my favorite fighter." Been a Cotto fan ever since.

EDIT: For clarification purposes, I'm refering to both all-time and current favorites. I'm relatively young, so Cotto is my all-time and current favorite.

I followed the 96 Olympic team real close and when they all turned pro, Floyd separated himself from the pack so naturally, I just kept following him and was amazed at what he could do in the ring. I instantly became a fan. I don't agree with all of his career choices and would have liked to see some fights that didn't get made but that doesn't change the fact that I just like watching him perform.

            hmmm.

My all time favorite is Marvin Hagler.

current favorite has got to be Danny Garcia.

Spadafora, we're from the same neighborhood and he was basically my idol through alot of my childhood. He was basically all we had growing up.

.....seeing him get up from the canvas 3 times to keep fighting against an ATG inspired me. Since then i've watched every available fight 2-3 times over...

and he continues to inspire me, he gets knocked down by Katsidis he gets up continues to fight and takes control with +10 punch combos by the end of the round

He's supposed to get destroyed and stopped, he goes up two weight classes at almost 40 and makes his stand. He embodies everything I love about boxing.

growing up it was marco antonio barrera the fight with morales was like ecstacy. but it was his schooling of hamed that made barrera my fave. ive been watching boxing since about 1999 and always hated how ****y the prince was when barrera schooled hamed and made him look like a fool that made me love barrera forever
