Good find. He backed up, touched the ropes, planted his feet and nailed Hatton. It was a good punch but I've always wondered how much damage ricky did falling face first into the ring post. A KO is a KO but no doubt his head was hurt from head butting a post.

No it wasn't. He would back up and plant himself near the ropes and then punch. If that's the benchmark for great backwards fighting then Toney would be an ATG at it. Effective backing up would be something Bute is good at where he throws punches while retreating and stops briefly then hitting with power then backing up more. I don't think Floyd has ever been that guy to punch in reverse he just retreats to a safe spot then fights.

1 loss doesn't make you washed up. If he repeats the loss then you have a point but right now it's yet to be determined. Yes, I believe Bute fights better than Floyd backing up. Does Bute have a better defense? Obviously not.
