At his current age? Then not so much. Too much out of his prime and he once again changed his style of fighting.
Can Floyd fight effectively backing away?

Floyd can move backwards effectively to retreat. But not for a whole fight nor do I think he would want to. His gameplan would never be fighting while backing up. Roger would be all over him between rounds and he always listens to Roger. So could he fight while backing up? Probably but thats not really an effective strategy for any fighter. JMM is probably the best fighter ive seen fight backing up. But thats also cost him in his biggest fights against Manny.Last edited by leonthegee; 10-26-2012, 02:02 PM.Comment

i've never seen floyd do that throughout a fight
floyd does 3 things in a fight and has done these his whole career
beat you in the middle of the ring
beat you in the pocket (closeup)
let you tire yourself out hitting his arms and shoulders while he's on the rope and he's counteringLast edited by illmaticfighter; 10-26-2012, 02:07 PM.Comment

Mayweather vs. HattonHe defends well with his back to the ropes with his shoulder roll style but I haven't seen him do much when he's backed up and circling. He typically backs up, plants himself then rolls and pot shots but he's not backing away and moving while doing damage. Anyone seen Floyd perform well going backwards in a fight?

Good find. He backed up, touched the ropes, planted his feet and nailed Hatton. It was a good punch but I've always wondered how much damage ricky did falling face first into the ring post. A KO is a KO but no doubt his head was hurt from head butting a post.Comment
