He had better footwork. That matters more than getting punched in the face.
I remember someone else saying Alexander beat either Kotelnik or Maidana and they said the same thing, that you have to give the fight to the fighter who looks better, not the one landing punches. Wonder if this is the same person.
it was a close fight. the problem is on this forum everyone thinks every close fight is a robbery.
Imo it was a close fight in the same way Pacquiao-Marquez III was a close fight or Pacquiao-Bradley was a close fight. I.e. a vague argument can be made for the winner but in the eyes of most it really wasn't that close at all.
He landed the better punches throughout, dominated the last half of the fight, dominated in power shots....he won the fight pretty clearly in my eye's.
As for the Alexander fight, that was an even clearer victory for Matthysse.
