Before the Morales rematch.... Erik TKO Cano and had a questionable loss to Maidana. Not saying Cano or Maidana made Morales the man again but neither of them dudes could get that 36 year old out of there.

So now we're going back and forth with "Mathysse would win; no Garcia would win", but no one is taking the time to evaluate known characteristics of both fighters.

Garcia likes to slug toe to toe and counter his opponents. I don't see how these knowledgeable boxing fans on this site can't see that that would play perfectly into Mathysse hands.

Then folks bring up the Judah and Alexander bouts, as if Garcia and Judah/Alexander have similar styles. They don't. Not even close.

Mathysse is a better fighter than Garcia on the inside where Garcia is most comfortable fighting; face it, he likes to exchange. Garcia doesn't have a jab like Ike Quartey. He likes to stay mid-range and trade while using minimal movement then wait to try to land a counterpunch.

I was happy when Garcia beat Khan and I think he accomplished a lot, but after the Khan fight, I knew it would only be a matter of time before Garcia tasted defeat. Beating old ass Morales was suppose to change that opinion?

Again, if he beats Rios or Mathysse, we can anoint Garcia as the next coming. I think Garcia can beat Rios in a close fight, but Mathysse? Come on now.
Yes because what has Mathysse done since Zab and Alexander and who has he fought to make people think that he would beat Garcia who has called 4th round KO's in both of his recent fights? He dropped Zab and couldn't finish him while Khan done Zab with a body punch. Is Khan a bigger power puncher than Mathysse then? Zab was/is done period and fact that he hurt Judah and didn't get him out of there has me questioning him. Sure that was 2 years ago but Garcia has improved too and to me he is looking the most impressive out of the two, This is my opinion and you do not have to agree or like it.

It's how Mathysse is winning though.

He beat Soto who is a beast. I know you're gonna say "but Soto was moving up in weight". Soto had only lost 1 fight in like 10 years. It's how he beat Soto down.

Olusegun was a very proven amateur who was undefeated as a pro. I'm pretty sure Olusegun beat a few proven professionals in the amateurs on top of being an undefeated pro for about 10 years. Olusegun was a solid fighter and probably a better boxer than Garcia.

Oh yeah, and Khan dropped Judah on a body shot that Judah called low, which is why he didn't get up. If you notice, Judah got up right after the ref called the fight off. Let's not over glamorize the KO as something it wasn't. It was more miscommunication than anything.

Anyway, like I said earlier in the thread, Mathysse gave the judges the benefit of the doubt during the Alexander/Judah bouts. If you notice before all of his fights now, he makes it a point to not let the fight go to the judges so he can get robbed. Because that's what the Judah/Alexander fights were; a robbery.

How can you agree that Pac-Marquez III was a robbery, but not Alexander-Mathysse?

Lastly, this potential fight between Garcia-Mathysse has very little to do with "who has he beat". You use this argument a lot when referring to your debates concerning Mayweather and Pac. Not every fight can be analyzed this way. Like I told another poster, as a boxing fan, you have to have an eye for routines, styles and proven/normal characteristics of two fighter when determining who would win a potential fight. It doesn't always come down to "Oh, who has this guy beat or who has he beat". You know this.

It's clear as a glass of spring water that Garcia's routines play into Mathysse's strengths. I don't know what else to say, but let's wait for the fight to happen I guess

          Now this ^ right here.
But i truly think Rios pressure could overwhelm Garcia.

Agreeing Marquez vs Pacquiao III was a robbery will make Mayweather looks better, cause just after that comes the "Mayweather came from retirement and outclassed Marquez". You know how it is.

            • I don't see Garcia beating any of this two guys (Matthysse and Rios). I don't see the tools..Just a wild puncher. Not hating here, just my honest opinion. Rios is a machine, that can be outboxed and outclassed by a guy who knows how to jab and keep the distance. You don't see that in Garcia.

Matthysse knows how to move and has a lot of power. He places his punches very well with a good body work. I'm not saying he's unbeatable...just saying Garcia is not the guy that will do that.

Morales was weight drained, and didn't look at all like the Morales that fought Garcia in their first fight. Not to mention the dude shouldn't even be in the ring fighting at 140 in the first place.
i remember khan fighting a guy named maidana who everyone thought he would get knocked out by and never getting dropped.alot of people are not giving danny enough credit for beating khan you say it was gonna happen eventually but it's not like khan was fighting bums befor fighting garcia yet he wasn't getting knocked out consistantly and i agree that danny probably shouldn't have been fighting morales but how could morales be weight drained in this fight and not the 1st one when he probably struggled with the weight more for the 1st fight

                  • I'm not sure why Garcia is being so dismissive of Matthyse, but he shouldn't be acting like he accomplished something by beating up Morales last night. He was way past his prime. I've been waiting for his inner douche to emerge and I think this is only the beginning. You don't have that much of a tool for a father and remain as humble as he's been.

If he's such a world beater he should clean out the division by fighting Matthysse, Peterson, and Rios instead of taking on Zab Judah.

even if the fight wasn't a robbery pacquiao was supposed to beat the **** out of marquez and knock him out according to team pac and his fans oh and lets not forget marquez just wanted a payday yet marquez made pacquiao look bad and probably did win so the whole floyd outclassed marquez and pacquiao barely won still stands true
