Khan was coming off wins over Malignaggi, Maidana, Judah, and a very very close fight with Peterson. Everyone was saying Garcia was going to lose that fight.

Matthysse's best official wins were Soto and Olusegun. Not exactly world beaters but decent fighters. The way Matthysse fans talka bout Soto though, you'd think he was actually in the Top 10 at 140 when Matthysse beat him. His best wins as of late were David Diaz and Urbano Antillon, and Soto was nowhere near a world beater at 140 lbs. Sure, Matthysse probably should have gotten the decision over Alexander, which would have been his best win. But in the Judah fight, you know the guy everyone says sucks, that fight was very close. Matthysse dropped Judah and landed hard shots during the fight, but there were many instances where Judah was out boxing and out landing Matthysse. Matthysse landed the harder shots, but Judah still won a lot of rounds there. That was a close fight, and the so called best JWW in the world didn't steam roll Judah, or ALexander either for that matter, and stop them.

Garcia-Matthysse still needs to happen though.

How about Garcia-Judah and Matthysse-Peterson, winners fight each other. That way Matthysse if he wins could grab that IBF title, ending Garcia's lame excuse about Matthysse not even having a title at 140.
I love that idea double header at Barclays winners fight. Love the sig btw

That would be a great plan. Add Quillin vs. Pirog/Golovkin/Geale and that would make for a sensational card at the Barclays.

      • If Garcia has the balls to face Morales at the twilight of his career...he should have the guts to fight Matthysse...otherwise...I see a big coward looking to fight-- weak chins and aging legends.

        • Matthysse by early KO before Garcia even has a chance to warm up.

You people seriously need to stop calling fighters ducks the day after a fight. A fighter can't duck anyone if an attempt to make a fight has not even been made.
You say this in a way to seem knowledgeable but in reality you failed to miss the point. He's getting everything in place for the duck to take place.

Counter punchers with timing always have the 1 up on brawlers and power punchers. I would figure fans of the sport should know this by now. Power punchers and pressure fighters rely on their aggression but if you put a fighter in with them that knows how to neutralize the aggression with counter punching and timing then the pressure and power punch stats declines (PacVsMarquez). Garcia has a certified pressure stopper that is a left hook that lands accurate with effect. I just don't see how so many people are dead sure that Mathysse would beat Garcia. I just don't see it. Guaranteed Rios fights someone with a lil ring smarts and he doesn't look that dominate.

Garcia/Matthysse are smarter than fans give them credit for, and both have stopping power. I got Matts by 10th round stoppage, but this is a 50-50 fight. This wouldn't be a drag-out brawl.

                  • Garcia wants to get Morales/Khan money for his bouts. They might not feel that Lucas might not bring the purse they are getting used to and are now looking at Judah.

I wouldn't be suprised that if they take a Judah fight and win that a rematch against Khan would happen.

Nobody is rushing to fight Lucas that in reality should be undefeated

Beating an unknown in Molina does not warrant a title shot. If Khan beats Matthysse, then Khan/Garcia 2 would make perfect sense.
