Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on Price, British Heavyweight Invasion

The Klitschko brothers vice like hold over heavyweight boxing is surely nearing its end and, as the young pretenders from around the globe jockey for position, Britain is primly placed to deliver a successor.

Last weekend big David Price from Liverpool served further notice of his credentials by ironing out ex Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison in just 82 seconds at the Echo Arena in his home city.

While few expected Harrison to triumph, it was the ruthless manner in which Price executed that provides cause for patriotic optimism.

At 6ft 8in tall and with a 17 ˝ stone frame seemingly cast from marble, the imposing 2008 Olympic bronze medallist has now stopped 12 of 14 as a pro and the fashion in which he destroyed Harrison – and Brits John McDermott and Sam Sexton earlier this year – confirms that ‘Big Pricey’ carries thunder in his gloves. Already 29, and with a wealth of top flight amateur experience, he can’t be far off making the big push.

We've got quite a strong division domestically with the likes of Haye, Chisora, Price, Fury & Whyte with Towers & Cornish around. I hope all of which meet at some point in their careers.

I wanted Price to win the Lonsdale against one of his countrymen, more specifically, Chisora.

He sounds like such a sad case writing stuff like that about DeGale.

'Despite the luke warm opposition, ' Chunky ' was hit far too easily and his face was ****** up when he conducted his post-fight interview. The word is middleweight Billy Joe Saunders knocked him out in sparring recently.'

Apparently it's true as well, not good.

as usuall a very biased fw article....... although i have to admit if degale finds himself in the ring with a puncher he's probably gonna get ko'd.......
cant believe mick hennesy was talking about him being a world champ in the next 18 months and comparing him to andre ward.... the division is so strong he really has no chance........ the likes of kessler, ward, froch, abraham would destroy him right now......
if price-chisora were to happen that would be a good test and a real step up for price.... providing chisora comes into the fight in the 240's not the 260's as in the fury fight. still think he would of beaten tyson if he was in shape for that fight.

Wouldn't surprise me if Saunders KO'd DeGale in sparring. He would spank him in a match, even with the weight disadvantage - Saunders is just on a different level. DeGale was clipped way too easily and way too often on the ropes against Mohoumadi, and he had nowhere near enough punching power to keep him in the middle of the ring. Groves on the other hand would beat Mohoumadi by KO quite comfortably, imo.
