julian, why so much hate to canelo bro? win or lose hell make it an exciting fight againt martinez, why hate him for trying to fight the best?

I was a big fan, but he is being protected for a reason, those match makers and trainers have been doing this for 20 and 30 years. They know that something is amiss with his skill set, they knew it with Chavez but wanted the money and couldnt duck any more with out looking bad. Canelo was looking good and then he started fighting little guys or old shot fighters. I would like to see him with new trainers and work on some things and fight some one good before he fights one or two of the best p4p fighters in the world

just read your favorite fighters list and you know whats going on there, Look Martinez is in another class then Canelo, Canelo may one day be something, but as of now he is a well promoted fair fighter that is being protected seriously.He will get hurt badly against Martinez

surely this is a tactical move all the way around. If the fight does happen...They're looking at Sergio's age ...the surgery, hand injury & recovery time...& the price of having to move down in weight. That's a lot to overcome no matter how driven the fighter is...If it doesn't go down...they're pulling someone else out to take the bait...obviously cotto or floyd. They're also hedging their bet for whoever doesn't step up of the 3. In any case Canelo is a live dog.

I cant belive anyone thinks Canelo has a chance here, Martinez will beat the living daylights out of him. He will take it to him pot shotting him with the jab moving around him for a few rounds then KTFO of the guy, He wont even stand a chance, this is one of the best fighters in the world against a guy who is not even in the top 40 in the world. Canelo hasnt even beat a real 154 pounder and he wants to fight the best 160 pounder in the world bar none.. This is complete and utter insanity if you you think he has a snowballs chance in hell. He will require radical reconstructive facial surgery after the bout, he would probably lose to Dzinsiruk if he fought him. He losses to any middle weight in the top 50.

i hope thats a joke and you dont seriously believe that. First off, it may be true he hasnt faced the best but the opposition he has faced he didnt only beat, he pretty much destroyed em. It's a new age where every ticket seller is gonna get brought up slowly, he's only 22 and already in line for the best. Now, as far as a fight with Martinez, it will definetly be a competitive fight. I wouldn't go as far as to say he would beat him but he has a punchers chance, catching martinez with that pretty left hook when he lunges in.

if you're comparing him to chavez i would agree with you, but the reality is that chavez sucks. He has no tools working for him; lack of footwork, lack of anyting but hooks and having to be set to throw a punch, and lastly not a boxer's IQ. Canelo is a way diff fighter; he's a bigger puncher, crisper combos, ok footwork, very good reflexes, and intelligent in the ring. OH and he's only 22 so while he is gonna get better, he's ready for the big leagues.

Until Canelo finally fights someone worth any attention then I will not say he can beat or even has a chance against Sergio Martinez. Martinez is out classing and putting fighters out who some would consider better than the still wet behind the ears Canelo. Thinking he can win is wishful thinking. Sergio's IQ in the ring is higher than Canelo's and the fight in the face of adversity attitude goes to Martinez. Canelo hasn't been in any of these situation so we don't even know how he would react when all else fails. His road has been laid for him and we will see once he is in with someone of any significance. At 154/160, Sergio Martinez cleans this kids clock.

I like martinez. His time is up. Just think if slow chavez jr can catch him whats a fast crisp harder puncher Canelo gonna do. Mind you this fight is gonna be at 154 !! That means martinez will be drained and wont be as powerful..

After 11 and a half rounds of effortlessly beating Chavez Jr up you forgot to mention. Sergio Martinez at that point hand was messed up and his knee and Chavez still couldn't get the job finished. Sorry man but not buying what you are selling. Martinez got up and went all out. He wasn't running and holding on till the bell. Some of you be exaggerating on here. In boxing fighters get hit, knocked down and so forth but the point is to get back up and make it out the fight on your feet and that's what Sergio Martinez did. Canelo don't have the size or beard of Chavez Jr and that is basically what saved him. Canelo is unproven and will get beat down. If he was that good, he would have been fought one of the top guys at 154 already. The way he is handled reminds me of Juan Ma Lopez and Berto. They look and perform great against average fighters but in against someone willing and ready to go all out they fall short.
