Surprise, surprise, Donaire continues to duck Rigo. .

That's the only explanation. Donaire sees something in Rigo. He sees something that gives him doubt. A little voice in his head that is telling him he's not too sure he can beat the guy. It's that doubt that is causing Donaire to make the excuses that he is making.Nonito, without a doubt, recognizes Rigo's measurable talent. And Nonito being an elite fighter, a competitor and someone with increasingly fewer true challengers - and we're supposed to believe he can't get excited for that??? Simply put: B*ll****. Nobody is buying it DonaireComment

Yeah, agreed.
I'm just talking in terms of legitimacy.
Donaire and whoever wins Mares-Moreno are the best 2 fighters at 122 IMO.
That's the best fight, legitimate wise, to be made.Comment

This is an outstanding post... and as far as your sarcasm; I lived in Miami, it's Cuba there now. I'd say half the population is Cuban, no exaggeration. The population in Miami is around 400,000... there's about 124,000 of those registered Cubans and I wouldn't doubt that there are more there without papers.C'mon now. Like Narvaez or Mathebula had a following and/or generated money or excitement for that matter??
And I beg to differ that Cubans don't have a following... Miami, Fl. probably has more Cubans than Americans at this point (sarcasm, but just sayin).
Also during tonights fight I swear there were more people chanting Nishiokas name then there were Donaires. In fact, Donaire himself really doesn't have that big of a following outside of hard core fans either, so really - I don't know what he expects fighting at that weight.
To be perfectly honest, I don't see how anyone could really be a worse choice or less "exciting" for Donaire than some of his last few fights have been..... and I like Nonito, I really do. But his excuse was just lame IMO.Comment

I think that is a very smart analysis of the situation, although Donaire is much better than Hamed ever was.Exactly...
Rigo=Mayweather
Donaire=RJJ
I tend to think that a fight between Rigo and Donaire would play out like Barerra-Hamed. Rigo could time Donaire and actually throw counters. Rigo has great footspeed that is equal to if not quicker than Donaire [much better pivots]. And he's more textbook. I've yet to see Donaire truly have to box. Yes, he's naturally bigger than Rigo, but I think Rigo can keep all the fluff in check.
Donaire has been hand picking opponents who can't punch, who have no hope, and who nobody knows.
Rigo is one of the best technicians to ever lace up the gloves. He has phenomenal power in both hands, otherworldly timing, and perfect technique.
Donaire has a style of letting guys hit him so they openup and give him chances to throw is own shots.
If he tries that with Rigo, his ass will end up on the canvas. Rigo hits to hard to do that. Donaire will have to try to outbox Rigo which I am not convinced he can do.Comment

Somehow Vazquez and Mathebula are more proven than Rigo according to Donaire fans.

i find it utterly laughable all the Donaire is ducking rigo talk. I think Donaire utterly dominates Rigo.
Do people know rigo is about 5' 4 1/2 with a 66 inch reach and donaire is like 5'6-5'7, 68 inch reach with a much bigger frame?Comment

Oh right, because this one was a classic, as were his bouts with WV2 and Mathebula. Funny how the great fights you listed are against fighters who aren't nearly as athletic as Donaire and much slower, may not even has as much pop either.
Of course the fights that are stinkers are against fighters that would box his ears off.Comment
