Does anybody, who's willing to help out someone who's computer illiterate, know how to post photos on here?
Why was Dempsey afraid of Negroes?

i hate when people say dempsey was racist. i'm black and he is one of my favorite fighters. now if he was racist, would he be one of my favorite fighters? he already signed to fight wills, so it's not like he was ducking him. but negotiations fell short, despite the fact that dempsey signed the contract.

Because if a fighter is black he is good right?
Second of all, there is NO evidence that Dempsey was a racist.Comment

hmm
It was much easier facing white journeymen and middleweight types. When you look at the white heavyweights back then, he didn't face all the top white heavies either, like Smith, Carpentier, and McCarty. In fact, Willard and Hart were the best near prime true heavies he ever faced, and we saw what happened.
And you're statement that he didn't fight the best white heavies is unsound. Whites were always having contests to determine a fighter that could beat Johnson. No one was considered a threat. That's why they had all the great white hope tournaments. He fought the best to get to the top and he stayed there. He might have a fought a COUPLE more black fighters in his prime while champ, but he was making a poli/social statement. Watch the bio, man.Comment

Here's both Dempsey and Wills signing the contracts for a fight that Wills himself said that "It wasn't Jack's fault" for not coming to pass.Attached FilesComment
