Comments Thread For: Lara’s Trainer: Martirosyan is Going To Get Outclassed

Ronnie Shields doesn’t just think he knows exactly what he’s working with — he believes he knows exactly what he’s working against.

Shields is the trainer to junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara, but he also once trained the junior middleweight Lara will likely be facing this fall, Vanes Martirosyan.

Shields spoke with BoxingScene.com about the bout, which takes place on November 10th at the Wynn in Las Vegas. [Click Here To Read More]

Laras a good fighter but his hype here really makes me want to see him lose this. I guess that's a good thing for him, another person watching for whatever reason... but still.

Lara isn't a hype-job at all....I see Lara beating kirkland and angulo badly....he's probably the only one at 154 who Canelo wouldn't just completely destroy--- now it seems he has his proper conditioning in order too...could even give Canelo problems with that left. A couple more fights and a little bit of marketing can go a long way for Lara...

          Lara deserves a title shot

I respect Martirosyan a lot, but Lara will probably beat him easy by way of scorecards.

Lara deserves a title shot. He had two fights in a row where unfortunate decisions happen (draw with Molina and the highway robbery loss to Williams). He is a real threat to any title holder so I hope this fight gets done and Lara gets a shot at a title.

I'm a fan of Freddie Roach but it just hasn't been his year this year lol cause Lara is definately going to whip that ass. Lara beats all at 154 except Cotto Fraud and Martinez.

I wouldn't say overall he's a hype job... I said on this forum he's referred to as the second coming of christ sometimes. He's a good fighter no doubt, but he's not proven that he's an elite top of the line once in a generation fighter that some people make him out to be, that's all.

                who knows about Lara

He got a gift against Molina and was robbed against Williams

other than that KOing tomato cans and dominating lesser fighters doesn't mean much.

Lara is the flavor of the month. maybe he's the real deal maybe not but in his fights with better fighters he hasn't looked that great.

this fight is 50/50 to me because Vanes is in the same boat because who really knows about him either.

I can't wait for this fight. Lara has definitely fought the better competition to date, but from what I've seen of Vanes, he has some good physical attributes going for him. Looking forward to it.

Wtf you talking about? How often do you hear about Lara in this place? You can say that about Rigo but sure as hell not Lara.

As for this article, I hope they dont go in there underestimating Vanes. Aside from the other issues, Lara went into the Molina fight probably underestimating the guy and looking for the quick KO which was the case for his previous 4 fights before Molina. Lara has shown vs Williams and Hernandez that he can **** it out for 12 rounds on the outside or on the inside.
