someone always has something to say - oh how can he be p4p when he fights at home all of the time (sound like a bytch) - all of these european fighters who get belts and hold them hostage (sturm / abraham / huck / calzaghe / ottke / povetkin / vitali K / lebedev / danny green / bute / and it goes on and on and on - Ward is the draw and he has a good negotiator on his team (Dan Goosen) be mad at the opponents manager / promoter - and as far as Floyd goes, he lives in the mecca of boxing, but he is from Grand Rapids, MI - everyone and their mama wants to fight there, and there are so many fighters that have relocated there .

People always look for excuses. I never heard Ali say, "Im the best cuz I leave my home town" Who cares, Ward never has a close fight. Use that excuse when he has a close one. Once he leaves his home town, it will be some other silly excuse.Originally posted by fdohas there ever been a #1 p4p that only fights in his hometown?Comment

Why does that matter?Originally posted by fdohas there ever been a #1 p4p that only fights in his hometown?Comment

personally I think that will probably be the best fight from a pubic POV that Ward has.
he beat the dog siht out a skinny light heavy coming down to 168. Dawson was weight drain pure and simple, that wasn't Ward's fault because Dawson wanted to do it.
Ward isn't a big puncher and it's not like he'll suddenly get it at 175.
Ward deserves to be a p4p fighter because he's a masterful technician not because he's a beast. the Dawson fight was the execption not the rule.

a side note
Ward did dominate almost everybody at 168 execpt Sakio Bika, don't be a Boxrec commando and believe the score cards because they were siht.

Hilarity!Originally posted by fdohas there ever been a #1 p4p that only fights in his hometown?
*buzzer sounds* WRONG!
That's a cop-out & you know it. He had the home field advantage in the Super Six & benefits from it now. You have to be able to go out & win on the road. Ward is definitely in the mix, but when was the last time he had to go to hostile grounds to fight & win? *crickets* - Yeah, I knew you would say that....
+1......Originally posted by fdo1- none of the fighters you mentioned where considered p4p #1 at any point of their career
2- i never asked how can he be p4p. i asked WHO has become p4p NUMBER ONE by only fighting in his hometown
3- floyd didn't build his career on his hometown. he actually moved AWAY from his hometown. there's absolutely no point of comparison between what ward is doing and what floyd has done in that sense

By this time next year SOG will most likely be at the top of the p4p list. Especially if Floyd and Manny don't fight.Comment
