I think Mayorga will lose! If he could actually learn how to box instead of brawl, he would have a damn good chance. But he is good for taking a few rounds off, and he can't do that with DLH. DLH may have lost a step or two, but he's still a smart boxer. I like Mayorga because he's ****y as all hell and doesn't give a damn, but he is a dumb fighter! Maybe he just needs to fire his corner, but why in the hell would you pull that "Come on and hit me in the chin, I'll give you a free shot," crap with Tito? If anybody has an answer for that, please, let me know!
How many people here thinks that Mayorga can beat De La Hoya?

We all know that Mayorga has good power and that his wild brawling style has foiled good boxers like Vernon Forrest and gave the slick Cory Spinks all he could handle, will that be enough to beat a DLH that hasn't fought in well over a year and is not nearly as hngry as he once was?
I honestly don't know...but I'm not so sure that DLH would walk all over this guy, the way I thought he would. I still lean toward De La Hoya, becasue even on his worst night he is loads better in terms of skill than Ricardo.
Obvioulsy there are other factors that I have already mentioned other than just pure skill but I pose the question...
Can Mayorga beat DLH?
Prediction=> Hoya late tko or wins comfortably by UD
w/ minor bruises.Comment

As far as I'm concerned, Mayorga has to lure DLH into a brawl if he wants win.
As for him sticking the chin out and urging fighters too hit him, thats just Mayorga, a reckless, wild-swingin brawler, who doesn't give a crap!Comment

Not me. He used to be an explosive, non-stop brawler. He hasn't knocked anyone out in years. Beside, if Spinks, who can't punch, can beat Mayorga, you'd better believe that De la Hoya can discourage him. That being said, if De la Hoya is very rusty, I think Mayorga will make it interesting.Comment

I'll predict Oscar but Ricardo CAN win. I think that he is too hard for Oscar to knock out so Ricardo can stand in front and trade without getting too hurt. Plus he might be able to knock Oscar out with a wild punch. That said, I think it will be jabfest fight for Oscar and he'll get a decision like 8 rounds to 4. Could have a different result thoughComment

I think that it isn't Mayos power that is the main issue its the weird angles that he throws punches from, thats why his opponents would get hurt cause they never would expect him to throw punches from the weird angles that he does. I think that Mayo is trying to box more, and is more orthodox than he used to be, I think that may be a factor in his dwindling KO percentage. It also may stem from the fact that his opponents have figured out his style, and are more prepared for his shots.
But in his last fight he put his opponent down several times, and in each instance it was becasue Mayo threw a punch that Piccirillo did not expect.Last edited by ChrististheAnswer2; 12-20-2005, 01:45 AM.Comment
