What do you think the state of Basketball there were only two teams and they organised different in house matches on separate days?Comment

You're missing the point, the quality of football, basketball and other sports is increased by the level of competition. Boxing might not reach those heights but an increase in competition will improve the overall competition.

It happened on September 15th, what was the result? A success. The mentality you have is what's leading to the sport stagnating and fans getting ripped off on PPV. Stuck in the 60s and prepared to allow the promoters to spin them bull****.Comment

The PPV sold 450k, those people who paid weren't going to flip flop channels to see Showtime when they just paid $60 for boxing.
16k people in that arena didn't get to see a great undercard that was put together on Showtime.
Thousands didn't buy the PPV because they were either in the arena or watching Showtime.
But 2 boxing card at the same time and the same day is now considered a success, do you have the Showtime numbers by any chance.Comment

You make a good logical point, but it's not valid in today's sports world. Do you really think out of those 1million people, 500,000 of them would of ordered the PPV? I don't.
Giving people a choice is almost never a bad thing. What if it's a fight the fans don't want to see? Would you rather them tune into College football or the other boxing event?Comment

Cards on the same day suck, but hbo has no power to change it. Lets be honest, showtime can hold a fight card on friday if they choose. But since the networks have been swapping employees I think showtime just wants to come out of hbo's shadow. So now they're willing to compete hth.
Showtime is by far the better fight network & now they're willing to prove it.Comment
