The PPV sold 450k, those people who paid weren't going to flip flop channels to see Showtime when they just paid $60 for boxing.

16k people in that arena didn't get to see a great undercard that was put together on Showtime.

Thousands didn't buy the PPV because they were either in the arena or watching Showtime.
But 2 boxing card at the same time and the same day is now considered a success, do you have the Showtime numbers by any chance.
Showtime had over a million viewers the ppv no. on HBO were higher than anticipated so yes I will call it a success.

So what if those 16k people didn't get to see a great undercard on Showtime? That's akin to someone telling me that I didn't get to see a great Manu game because I chose to watch Arsenal. Also you're ignoring the fact that because two separate boxing events occurred more people were able to see a fight live ( There are not an infinite amount of tickets).

Sept 15 was a success solely due to the star power of Canelo and Chavez..... What about smaller scale fights and fighters??? How well did Lucas-Ajose do when put against Ward-Dawson???

Its unrealistic to expect that competition between the networks will somehow make it better for the sport.... You're taking an already small viewing audience and splitting it in half which in the end isn't good for the sport or most importantly the fighters.....

Just think how much better the numbers for both events could have been on Sept 15 if they were not competing against each other......

I wanted to see both Canelo-Lopez and Chavez Jr-Martinez peacefully. Instead I had to switch between them and it was annoying. I do not have DVR, I don't even have cable in my room, I watch boxing in my living room or a stream. So don't tell me about DVR.

TBH, I haven't even seen the ginger/Lopez fight to this day. It played out exactly how I thought from what I heard though, lol.

Who's to say some of those 450k who ordered Martinez-Chavez weren't also one of the viewers who tuned in to Canelo-Lopez? You could switch back and forth, doesn't that count as a viewer?

For all we know, the viewer numbers weren't affected at all. Maybe those 450k PPV's sold were those same dudes who were watching Canelo-Lopez, plus some casual fans. You're looking at one person who did that right here.

We'll never know because they took customers away from each other.

Nothing like watching it live. But hey its boxing as fans we love the sport but we are use to BS like this
