      Hello Scully-
Looking at Andre Ward's style and how he approached the style and converted southpaw style of Dawson-do you think Chad would have won at 175? I'm not being rude, just interested in your opinion...

LOL compared to the hate Ive encountered on message boards when Ive had a different opinion than someone you are FAR from rude LOL..I think Chad DEFINITELY puts up a much much better fight at 175, no question in my mind...the effects of weight loss, mentally and physically cannot be overstated..and sometimes u dont realize exactly how much it affects you until u are actually in the ring on fight night...unfortunately....

Thanks for the quick response! I guess to a lot of outsiders (the fans, media, etc) they would assume sour g****s when an excuse is presented (legitimate or otherwise).
I personally thought Dawson did a great job until round 3 when he got knocked down-his legs weren't there after that and he seemed hesitant and sort of studying Ward too much after it all.I assumed that was what changed the fight and that weight loss wasn't as great of an issue as most thought...though saying all of that, only you and Chad know the reality of that situation as I am not entitled to the luxury of seeing the situations behind the scenes.

I also wish the fight was at 175-even for Ward's sake,as it would have been without controversy if he had won-not to mention he would have been a 2 division champ. The victory,no matter how good it is,can always cast clouds of doubt and "what if's" with the fans...it just would have had more luster, there is no denying that.

All the best with Chad-he is an excellent boxer and I hope to see him recoup from the loss and get back in the mix of things soon.

yea, I feel like, having been around a long time...there are REASONS more than there are excuses...an excuse IMO is if you lie and say "my ankle was sprained and I couldnt move" when it really wasnt. Things like that. But in most fights there are things that happen before it that change the course of it directly or indirectly...injuries, weight loss, personal problems, etc...its one reason why two guys could fight ten times and you could get ten very different performances and results...

would we have won otherwise? No way to say, maybe, maybe not. ANDRE WARD is more than a handful and it will take a great effort to defeat him! But for me to pretend that weight wasnt an issue just so I can not sound like a sore loser is not realistic. We lost fai rna dsquare, no doubt, but weight was a factor. CLEARLY

I like this idea right here. Good stuff.

They hire me to do a job and I do it...the people with the money control what happens in this business, my friend...
Hmm I can see where you're coming from but a trainer's SUGGESTION has no value? I mean, if you suggest a guy or his people don't take this fight it's not a good idea, would it make him/them reconsider? As for the bold, a lot of people here including myself thought this fight was "made" when Chad called out Ward out on the post fight interview.

But but but the weight had nothing to do with it! .....According to the Ward fanboys on here.

Btw good job in the corner that night of the fight.

Part of it is that I talked to his nutritionist and he was very sure that he could make the weight no problem...and also, like I say, the wheels were in motion already...once it was stated in the ring after the Hopkins fight there was no going back, u know what I mean?

Gotcha. Well the nutritionist was right in a way I suppose. He sure made the weight and I was impressed. But I had my su****ions that he would not look good come fight night. And he sure didn't, it kinda ****** to see such performance.

Do you guys have your eyes set on a time frame for a comeback?

I guess I used the word "excuse" as a way to be interchangeable with "reasons" as well. As a fan and outsider,I was able to see Dawson force Ward back (and many fighters can attest that Ward is a very strong fighter),so I assumed Dawson's strength was present in the fight (though being drained can creep in to those late rounds).

Combined with Chad winning the first few rounds before the knockdown,I just assumed the knockdown changed the direction of the fight. If weight wasn't an issue, then the knockdown still may/ may not have happened (if Dawson was at 175)-who knows, after all it was a fast set up punch from outside of Dawson's lead foot-kinda like a blind spot and he didn't see it coming nor had a chance to prepare for the shot. I suppose weight loss this major can affect the punch resistance and recovery so I cannot on any certain terms say how Dawson would have responded to that shot at LHW...

                      All the best!
