Bute was overrated as hell, and look what happened.I'd like to see my boy Ward move up in weight and make some good things happen. He's already solidified as that top guy in his division and Bute getting destroyed leaves little to no questioning on a Ward fight.

I predicted 2 weeks ago that Ward is gonna be a cherry picker.Ward avoided Anthony Dirrel who was a mandatory and said he was gonna vacate the title but Anthony Dirrel got injured so that was a loophole for him.He also was making excuses not to fight overated Bute.
And Ward did not clean out 168,he has to beat at least Andre Dirrel to clean out 168,the belt Dirrel won from Froch was suppose to be Dirrels belt but he got robbed in the Froch fight.
And Dirrel is contemplating moving to 175 but he yet he wouldn`t fight Dawson at 175?Dawson might be ruined cause he came down to 168 and drained himself and took a bad beating. If Dawson is not shot Ward is gonna pick a easy belt holder at 175 and a lot of you gonna be slobbing his knob after he wins a belt from a bum at lightheavy.
Let me brace myself for the excuses from the Ward groupies.

But the irony is that Ward beat up Dawson soo bad that I dont think Dawson ever want to taste such a bad beating again.
Dawson looked damaged both physically and mentally.
Dawson is the only soul that knows if the weight affected him, and if he knew that it was the reason he got bullyed and knocked out he would have cryed rematch and been all over saying the weight affected him.
Ward is soo good people dont understand it, and try and downplay his opponents, yet all the guys he dominated in the supersix have won belts and and not lost since.
Also remember Ward fought as a light heavy in the amatures, and he will also be packing bigger guns and fighting at a weight he is used to.
Dawson did`nt want to make excuses but it was obvious that Dawson was weight drained, everybody knows that Ward has no real punching power.

As to Pavlik, hey, if Ward is going to stick around 68 he has to make defenses and Pavlik isn't a bad one. Good money fight.

Andre Dirrell has fought once in the last 2 years, 7 months. He fought Darryl Cunningham. With nothing on the horizon for Dirrell (does he even have a promoter anymore?), it is very likely come the end of this year that Dirrell will have boxed a total of 2 rounds in the last 3 years. In no way, shape, or form is Andre Dirrell a credible opponent for Ward at this stage of Dirrell's career.
Lucian Bute was broken by Carl Froch last May. He has a tune-up in November against Denis Grachev (the guy that stopped Sillakh) which coincides with Froch's tuneup against Yusaf Mack. Anything can happen in boxing, but I see both fighters coming out victorious in those tuneups which would set up a contractually mandated rematch between Froch and Bute for sometime around April-May 2013 in Canada. If Bute manages to pull the upset in the second fight, it's hard for me to see a way that their rivalry doesn't go to a trilogy. Which would leave Bute off the radar for Ward until 2014 most likely.
If Carl Froch wins, the only way Ward-Froch II would sell is if it were to take place in England, but Ward has no incentive to rematch a guy he already outclassed in the opponent's home town.
As I see it, Dirrell and Bute won't be real options for Ward until 2014, if ever. That leaves Ward with rematches against Kessler and Froch overseas, fringe contenders like Pavlik or Stevenson, or up-and-comers that really haven't proven anything against elite competition like Anthony Dirrell, Edwin Rodriguez, George Groves, or James DeGale.
Tough time for Ward right now. If I was him I'd take a Pavlik fight for January-February 2013. But I feel Arum is going to save Pavlik for JCC Jr. after he's done with his suspension, and Pavlik will fight 1-2 more cans in the meantime.
