Excellent news and those are numbers the fighters can build on. They've established their names and are now, sales-wise, formidable name fighters. I see another mega fight in Martinez's future. At worst, a rematch against Chavez. At best, a finale against Mayweather.Comment

To compare similar events....
Mayweather vs Judah, at the same arena, sold 400K PPV buys. That was over six years ago. Without the benefit of episodes of 24/7, or a holiday weekend. Or all the promotional support (Tecate rebates, etc).
Floyd-Zab had 15,000 attendance, while Chavez-Sergio sold 17,000.
The economy was better at the time.
They are two non-English speaking fighters, as appose to two popular American fighters.
Canelo fought on Showtime on the same day.
Martinez-Chavez got huge ratings in Mexico and other Latin countries.Comment

You bring up a valid point but you need to look at a few factors here.

But 475K+ is a great number for this fight. Even though the bulk of that can be attributed to Chavez, it exposed Martinez to a wider audience and hopefully, he can continue to carry that momentum.Comment

On top of that, Mayweather/Judah was in 2006 when Boxing's popularity wasn't as declined as it is now and also without a main competitor such as UFC. Still impressive considering that was pre DLH Mayweather.
