Well... If he'll be on PPV next time it would have to be against Mayweather, Cotto or Canelo. Which would do good numbers obviously.

Sergio vs another can won't be on HBO PPV.

Didn`t Arum claim 500,000 - 600,000?The same Arum groupies who believed those numbers also believed Arums claim of Pacquiao doing 1.4 mil in PPV numbers against Marquez and 900,000 against Bradley.

I came in here to congratulate HBO/Chavez Jr/Martinez, but now I see this post.

How many PPV's will Chavez Jr sell in his next big fight? Did Chavez Jr's little Latin Fury main event cards surpass even 50k?

It takes two to sell a lot of PPV's. Especially 500k like this. Last PPV that sold this much exactly, was Cotto-Margarito II. But Cotto couldn't sell half of that against Mayorga or Mosley. So it was actually both Cotto and Margarito and their bad blood that generated the interest. Just like Chavez Jr's name, and the bad blood between him and Martinez generated this many PPV buys.

The only other fighters that Chavez Jr or Martinez would have done this much and more with on PPV are, Mayweather, Canelo, Cotto or Pacquiao. So why don't we all just give a round of applause to BOTH fighters and stop giving credit to only one of them.

This was both first time on HBO PPV main event and they were extremely successful. Chavez vs Lee, Rubio, Zbik, neither of these fights would have done more than 100k. Martinez vs Macklin, Williams, Pavlik, wouldn't have done more than 100k.

Tip your hat off to both of these fighters because it was the match up and storyline between them that generated these numbers. These two are officially top 5 PPV draws. There was only 3 before them, Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Cotto.

this ppv sold those numbers because of chavez and the fact that it was sep15. Martinez should be thankful he even got the fight in the first place, hell of a fight by sergio by the way.
