Hopkins either stays away from you or rushes in with his head and a punch and grabs you, so even at his age, he can spoil you. Floyd stands there and rolls for his defense, he relies on his lateral movement, and get this... YES Floyd relies on his reflexes for multiple reasons.

ONE, when he's standing in the middle of the ring, he puts his back foot up on his toe and anticipates his opponent to punch so he can do a pull counter straight right hand, thats all reflex based.

When he rolls punches and combinations, he's using his reflexes to roll the punch BEFORE it comes in. He's defense is good because he at least keeps one glove to his chin, but he IS using his reflexes... he's not staying away and then smothering you like Bernard.

I think Floyd has considerably slowed down, granted he's human and he should, the first thing to slow down is your legs and your lateral movement, so far he's made it work very good for him, but when that anticipation, reflexes, and lateral movement slow down a bit more, that's when the real problems sink in.
What about James Toney? He still sits there and shoulder rolls, relies on reflexes and he's never been KO'd (despite being terribly shot).

Floyd and Hopkins do have similar styles when you sit back and look at it..Hopkins ducks and rolls and so does floyd, both keep that chin tucked and watch distance...both are smart enough to not get ko'd

Floyd fights once a year. He has almost no fight wear and tear on him. Outside the hand and back problems he had flare up over the years hes been relatively healthy. He overtrains but he only fights once a year so I guess it evens out.

Now if he was fighting 3 times a year and training like that Id be worried. Hes conserving his body.

Look at James Toney hes obese and you still can barely hit him..lol.

Well first of all, Toney's gotta have one of the best chins in the game... and lets all hope Floyd doesn't turn in to James Toney, I literally can't understand a word the man says.

Yeah, they reall'y don't... especially when it comes to defense, which is what matters when talking about being KTFO.

TO answer the real question, NO he won't end up like Roy.

But he will be pulled into the game way longer than he should, because the dude spends money like water... it doesn't matter how much you have, you can spend it.

Tyson and Holyfield both made over 300 million and their both in their 40's and broke.

Those paydays will keep him in it...

And lets not use Hopkins as the rule, he's definitely the exception.

Floyd has a damn good chin.

Dude has taken bombs flush on the chin from guys that can crack. Ortiz, Cotto, Mosley, Oscar, etc

He can take a licking and keep on ticking. Hes not getting stopped. Way to smart. I mean shyt did you see a dazed Floyd get bombed on by Shane and still have the sense enough to literally hang his glove off the mat to prevent a knockdown while preventing Shane from punching with his other arm. Hes smart as shyt.

There is so much that anyone who fights him will have to account for its almost like going up against a great football team when youre outmatched you better hope the other team over looked you.

And one thing we know about Floyd he talks big shyt but he takes EVERY fighter serious.

Grandpa Floyd will still be a problem.

Yea Floyd defense is alot better than Hopkins defense, now i can see him fighting to long, slowing down and losing a wide decision cause he was forced to stay in his shell..but we wont see him ko'd to much skill to much pride

Tyson is bankrupt, holyfield is broke from what I understand. Huge, huge, HUGE difference.

AFter Canelo, MAnny and Sergio (or Chavez), is there any more really big paydays for him? I don't know.

Tyson getting that bread now though. I seriously cant believe how his image has changed in the media. Thats a damn good story. I mean hes turned into this crazy looking teddy bear that America loves.
