Will Floyd end up like Roy Jones?

eventually he will lose which will take a huge amount of pressure off of him and he will probably start taking more risks. unfortunately by this time his reflexes will have gone and he will get battered like roy jones jr over and over. due to fading popularity and trouble with money he will be forced to fight elite opponents and i see at least 5 or 6 ko losses before he becomes completely irrelevant.Last edited by daggum; 09-21-2012, 12:51 PM.Comment

i dunno wtf shane's problem was after clocking floyd, he starts huggin the **** outta him even floyd is pushing him off with his elbows like "motherf*ker get the f*k off me"
seriously mind bogglingComment

His nerves got the better of him... he was wayy to jittery... he basically blew his load early, and tried faking not being tired the rest of the fight, besides Floyd adjusted.Comment

Floyd is unpredictable. It would not surprise me if he never fights again. He has been quiet about fighting again since his release from jail and he is not usually quiet about fighting. I would not be surprised if he did fight on for many years either. Alot depends on how his money holds up. He is very rich now but other fighters like Tyson and Holyfield have gone through incredible amounts of money and ended up broke. He has a ******** habit and that's a good way to go broke if you can't controll it. If he fights long enough he will lose. Jones seems to laugh off his loses. Can Floyd laugh off a loss or would he be devastated?Comment

Not trying to present a cop out BUT... I truly believe Floyd there was times in that fight where Floyd did certain things to get the crowd involved.
He didnt really take damage against Calzaghe but he couldnt stop him from throwing. Floyd in a P4P sense wouldve cut Calzaghes workrate clean in half.
Floyd wouldve also in a P4P sense took a guy as fundamentally flawed as Taylor to the woodshed and back again.
Its a different style of defense. Different stye but they both are fundamentally sound.Comment

I don't think floyd purposely got jabbed in the face repeatedly and was bleeding all over for the fans. That's not floyd's style.
Well let's see Floyd at age 43 then we can compare him to a guy with a high work-rate. But still calzaghe probably landed less than 15 clean shots in the entire 12 rounds. Hopkins at floyd's age still didn't even dominate Trinidad yet.He didnt really take damage against Calzaghe but he couldnt stop him from throwing. Floyd in a P4P sense wouldve cut Calzaghes workrate clean in half.
I'm not talking about pound 4 pound back in the day stuff. I'm talking about floyd right now. Also, floyd has never had to fight a guy like taylor in his career, so we really don't know how that fight would look like. Also Taylor was pretty fundamentally sound. His downfall was his stamina and ring IQ (not listening to his corner/not sticking with the game plan).Floyd wouldve also in a P4P sense took a guy as fundamentally flawed as Taylor to the woodshed and back again.
definitely. Its a different style of defense. Different stye but they both are fundamentally sound.Last edited by ИATAS; 09-21-2012, 12:59 PM.Comment
