If TMT then breaches that contract, then its dead on its face, regardless of whatever took place between 50 and TR.

Bottom line I believe is that if 50 breaches, then Gamboa is free and clear......

Edit: And I'm assuming 50 would be in breach because every promotional contract I have ever seen requires the promoter to provide x number of fights per year, at $x minimum purses....
Wow. Thanks for the input. If it's as you assume, Gamboa might make out to a certain degree. He would've gotten released from his contract with Top Rank and wouldn't owe TMT anything. He'd be a clear free agent. Of course, the downside is the inactivity. In the end, it would've been better for Yuri to have signed with a solid promoter and just fight. But being free and clear isn't bad consolation.

not to mention possibly being able to pocket a $500k or better signing fee from his new promoter........lol

Edit: one other consideration would be if the contract between Gamboa and TMT had a clause saying the contract was assignable on TMT's end. If it did, then technically TMT could sell the contract to Golden Boy or whoever to try and recoup their investment......
