Looks like it was a bad move. But, to paraphrase Mark Twain: "The reports of Yuri's career death have been greatly exaggerated." I don't know how Gamboa remains beholden to TMT, or what's left of it, but someone bought out his contract with Top Rank. That means they've got to be repaid somehow. It's a mess, but they'll find a way to get Yuri in the ring again. He's a valuable property. As of right now, Gamboa's been inactive for just over a year. If he can get in the ring within the next three to six months, I'll be happy.Comment

This could actually work out to Gamboa's benefit. Obviously 50 paid the million or so to settle the Top Rank lawsuit and buy out Gamboa's contract. If 50 now breaches the new contract by not providing any fights, Gamboa will be free to sign with whoever he wants, and pocket a very nice signing bonus from a new promoter.
The only drawback is he would have to sit for a bit and wait for 50 to breach, and then file a motion to vacate that contract. Might take 6 months or so.......Comment

This is some bull****. Fk these guys man, messing up other people's career. Didnt Floyd say he owned all the TMT fighters and said he was gonna put out some dates for these guys in the next week or two? It was on a FightHype interview. Why did they never send Salgado's people a contract?

It occurred to me this might be the case. But I know nothing of boxing contracts or, specifically, Gamboa's contract. You're saying that if 50 breaches the contract by not providing fights, Yuri will be free and clear? His new promoter wouldn't have to lay out any money to whomever paid off Top Rank? This could actually work out to Gamboa's benefit. According to 50, Floyd's lackadaisical when it comes to this stuff. Maybe we getting a view of it first hand. This is some bull****. Fk these guys man, messing up other people's career. Of course not having seen the actual contract, I am making certain assumptions based on industry standards. In settling the Top Rank lawsuit, 50 paid Arum the money and the Top Rank contract was voided. In exchange for that, Gamboa would have signed a new contract with TMT. If TMT then breaches that contract, then its dead on its face, regardless of whatever took place between 50 and TR.It occurred to me this might be the case. Bottom line I believe is that if 50 breaches, then Gamboa is free and clear......
Edit: And I'm assuming 50 would be in breach because every promotional contract I have ever seen requires the promoter to provide x number of fights per year, at $x minimum purses....Comment

I wish we knew wtf its going on with these people. I'm on my phone and can't really get it but there's that article where Floyd mentions we would hear from him about these guys' dates soon and how he's just worried about his promotional getting off right now.Originally posted by PBPQuote:
